What's the differece between ANDROID 1.6 AND ANDROID 2.0
I appreciate your help. Thanks
On the X10, multi-touch, 16m colors and the browser I believe.
Edit: I forgot the improved virtual keyboard.

Would guess not much that end users using SEs tweeked 1.6 will notice.
Android 2.0 highlights (Android 2.1 does not add significant user features).
http://developer.android.com/sdk/android-2.0-highlights.html
Some features such as BT file transfer, exchange support and certain camera features seems to have already been backported/added to X10 by SE themself, so a more interesting question is probably how much 2.1 differs from SEs tweeked version of 1.6 (nobody realy knows).
From my peresonal perspective, available features is of more interest than how they are provided (tweeked 1.6 or upgrade to 2.1), especially since it appears some form of upgrade path to newer android versions seems to exists according to some reports. The biggest issue as I see it may be compatibility with apps specifically written for 2.x, if such apps exists that I may need (don't know).

Thank you S4k1s and Arne Anka (They both are from Sweden )
Looking at the highlights, there isn't much deference though besides multi touch and 16m colors then why there is so much of hype of Android 2.0 going on?

But someone who can explain to me what are you really missing out on x10 from Android 2.0, It would be really nice to have a clear picture

Believe it or not I was about to ask the very same question
With an upgrade to 2.0 or 2.1 in the pipeline I don't really understand what it is that the X10 will be missing prior to an upgrade that will put it at such a disadvantage to its competitors.
If the fact that the delay is due to an upgrade to 2.0 then I would have the phone out with 1.6 and upgrade later rather than wait a few more weeks for a relatively minor upgrade that will bring no major improvements.
Just get the phone on the shelves already - thats what I say.
Play.com have brought forward their release date to 19th Feb.
Xperia X10 launch delay denied by Sony Ericsson.

Given what SE have claimed about back porting and modding the OS to provide functionality plus their insistance on adding a secondary layer to the UI which crawls already! (I predict huge performance issues when people have very large numbers of contacts) I am not so sure a customer install update will be that simple perhaps just for once Sony Ericsson might be thinking ahead?
I have owned the ... T68i T610, P800, P900, P910, P990, W950, P1, W960 But SE have now totally lost the plot. |

Yes! Good !
The best mobile phone brand died with Sony Ericsson's death. Shame on you Sony for killing it! And, of course, for ruining the Xperia brand... Mediar's Site |

Is it just me or is everyone who showing off this phone only care about timescape and mediascape?
I want to see other things.....browser, typing, what else is in this phone.....how it works....
I get a "deja vu" from the infamous "panels" on the X1....I nearly never use the panels.....
Will it be the same with time/media-scape?
Is there anyone who can show me something else? I guess I missed some hands-on's... |

you won't believe but I love my xperia for panels. I use them a lot and I like X2 more than X10 cause it still has panels. It's like having 9 dekstops customize the way you want. I don't tweet, facebook or flickr all the time so when I'm in that mode I use panels otherwise the main desktop works charming for me
Honestly after Xperia, I feel Sony Ericsson is back
Edit: X2 has QWERTY keyboard too I so need that. The reason I never liked Iphone was I thought it's a toy phone to play around but seems like slate type of smartphones are really getting big but it ain't like having a smartphone with a QWERTY keyboard.

Android Vs Windows Mobile
Personaly I hate Windows but not Windows Mobile. It was really hard for me to understand seeing Android coming up really fast. I got to the point, what's the real scene? here are the reviews and difference between Android and Windows Mobile. May be off topic but it's important to understand why Android? before talking about it's versions

I don't know whether that article is good news or bad news. Many people were expecting a February release. That spokeswoman has reiterated the fact that Sony Ericsson has only officially announced a Q1 2010 release data, which gives them all the way until the end of March to release the X10. The X10 was never really delayed to March because Sony Ericsson never officially announced a specific release date other than Q1 2010. |

@Indiandawg
Exactly like me!
Panels are really great and superb they developed it further on X2 which seems a great device!
I also use it all the time!
And I also won't exchange WM to Android....
But I guess we're offtopic

I agree that panels rule and SE is doing great with xperia. I like panels a lot. to me, X1 is faster than iphone 3G after some comparisons on the basic tasks. I do think that X2 is beautiful and the form factor is good, but since I'm using win6.5 for my X1, I think there is no point for me to change to X2 hence I'm waiting for X10 to try on Android. To me X10 currently is the best designed smartphone.
I don't think SE has problem with their software.
