re: the outgoing email
the O2 smtp is o2.smtp.co.uk
So if you are using orange in an O2 locked phone the email won't go as its on their network.

Doesn't work for me (O2 sim and phone). Are you sure about that? The usual format (and the one that O2 include in their settings) would be smtp.o2.co.uk. This is getting very frustrating. I could send and receive email from my Blueyonder account with my old K750 with no trouble at all. Is anyone else having the email problem with a non-O2 phone? It might help narrow down where the problem lies (i.e. O2 or SE).

Is everyone having the outgoing email problem? I know I am. I'm also using an 02 phone with the 02 outgoing server.

Well, considering i'm not a professional photographer and not normally in situations where i have to take stunning quality photos, i'd have to say W850i. |

Well, I've got a K750i and a w850i is just the k750i without autofocus, so for me, the k800i was the obvious upgrade even though i dont take many pics with my phone.
I'm not bashing the w850i, I was after one until my contract ended and I had to choose a new phone, so i opted for the k800i since the w850i isnt out yet. |

I also use o2 email but instead of the smtp etc. i use 193.113.160.13 as the incoming and outgoing server on my K800. Hope this helps...... |

Thanks. Tried that but still getting the error 'incorrect username or password' when trying to send mail. That error message isn't accurate though as incoming mail works fine.

Thats weird, I'm using o2's own email. I've found that in the username box you should put your full email address eg-darth.paul@o2.co.uk, other than that I can't think what could be wrong! |

I'm using O2 Email on the K800 using the O2 WAP GSM profile (Nb. Basic WAP not GPRS) and have the Outgoing server set as POP.O2.CO.UK
All Mail is sent and received ok.
Incoming Server is MAIL.O2.CO.UK
Good luck!

Both smtp.02.co.uk and pop.02.co.uk ping as 193.113.160.13 so I'm not sure that's going to help. It's very weird. A few people have posted having exactly the same problem, but obviously you guys are having no problems at all. Very strange. Thanks for the advice anyway.

Anyone know how to turn off the beep sound when the phone disconnects from a WAP or Email download session?
The beep even sounds when the phone is in silent so is very annoying. Thanks in advance |

i'm using my own mail server and once i've set it up, i'm having absolutley no problems sending an receiving...
make sure you receive mail just before you send it, as this authorises the pop server so you can send... thats all i did, and it works

EMAIL SORTED! At least for me: I could send and receive mail from my O2 email address, but using my Blueyonder email account, I could receive email, but sending resulted in the dreaded "Incorrect username or password" message. It had worked fine on my K750, using the standard trick of entering "pop3.blueyonder.co.uk" for the Incoming Server, and "smtp.o2.co.uk" for the Outgoing Server.
Obviously I used the same settings on the K800, and they didn't work. However, on a hunch, I changed the Outgoing settings to "smtp.blueyonder.co.uk", and bingo! Mail sent!
Now this is not the usual way of doing things, and it seems odd that this does not appear to be documented anywhere, but hey, it works! Hope this is of help to others. |

Hi guys
OK heres my dilemma, I've just returned my N80 with 3, so that I can stick with O2, however, they want £130 for the N80, and to be quite frank, the N80 is a truly awesome phone, however, I do like to take pictures and videos on my phone when I'm out and about... The N80's video quality is absolutly second to none (in daylight), and the pictures are awesome, but I'm very interested in the K800, as I don't really need the full office capabilities etc of the N80. However, the K800 doesn't have a light, so night videos will be rubbish right? Also, how do videos and pictures compare in general on the two phones...
Cheers

Tried that on mine, and whilst I didn't get the 'Incorrect username or password error', I did get 'Send failed'. My ISP is Eclipse, and it didn't work using smtp.eclipse.co.uk or the actual IP address
