Since there is no longer 6 month cycle, pointless to leave non-premium for september.
to be fair, mwc was cancelled pretty late, less than 2 weeks before the show. IFA was known to be in jeopardy and by May it was known it would be a limited event.

Why does 5ii have different design?
Looks like 21:9 Xperia X to me.
1 ii looks better.
There is no ToF there. Can't beloeve Sony is going to cut stuff like seen on non-pro version of Xiaomi and Oppo.

The frame is made of metal if you zoom in you can see plastic inserts for the antenna |

It will be failure if sony downgrades few stuff instead of making as smaller 1ii.
Without ToF , the AF will be slower.

I do not remember if it was from sumaho ou amdroidnext, but something posted on weibo about sony semicon being able to make exmor and ToF as one.
Maybe it is ready now and available for 5ii, who knows !!!

ToF is kinda useless, honestly. Besides, it's only used mainly for subject separation and bokeh effects (to make it more accurate).
Even Samsung ditched the ToF sensor for its Note20 Ultra and replaced it with Laser Autofocus, the focusing gets much better and there's visually no difference in the image quality for the portrait shots.

They have said few times ToF is very important part of AF system.
Also explained ToF has more than 200 focus points while Laser has only 1.
Someone posted on gsmarena comment, the main camera is not same of 1ii.

so 5ii has no iToF and fps and power key are separate. seems to maintain the curved sides. i quite like the squared/flat sides of the 1ii, so that's a shame they didn't add that to the 5ii.
it doesn't seem to be as good of transition from 1ii to 5ii as 1 to 5 was last year. last year's 5 was essentially the same as 1, but in a smaller package with no 4k. There seem to be more things taken away this time. shame.
I was really hoping to recommend 5ii as a nice, compact phone with flagship specs same as 1ii, but it isn't that.

Button is too low to be FPS. Does not make sense giving new FPS to 10ii but not to 5ii ...
Weibo post from that Caybule boy says it will replace side sense because it is cheaper to have button than using screen software.
Other ppl believe to be video shutter like Xperia Pro or button you can programm to do whatever u need.
