Your wrong, they are £560 on Clove including VAT and £500 on Ebay and they are 1 day old so basically brand new, they have bought them and don't want them so people can save themselves £60 by buying off Ebay.
I bought a Xperia Z off Ebay for £380 within 4 weeks of it being released, I think the Z1's will be available on Ebay for around £400 by the end of October.
Lol! What's this Lumia fan roaming here?
Here's your £500 Z1. http://item.mobileweb.ebay.co[....]nav=SEARCH&itemId=171130555489
"Sony Xperia Z1 - Black - Unlocked - MINT CONDITION"
It's clearly stated MINT CONDITION - AESTHETICALLY DAMAGED
Anyway, what are you trying to prove? Lumias have high value? Not here. Go to somewhere where WP can interact and pretend WP is very successful.

Wow this is not what I was expecting, 6 hours browsing time? O_o The Z with a smaller battery has almost 40 min more browsing time. The LG G2's time is insane, with the same CPU and bigger screen get 11 hours?
I've accepted the less than optimal viewing angles, and the fact the camera is not ready yet and will be updated in the near future from what was posted here but no such info from directly from Sony. I know the firmware for the phone is not 100% and it will improve but i doubt any firmware updates will drastically increase the browsing time.
Still hopeful that I will be picking up the Z1 next week, but I might just wait. |

Think you need to be quiet boy.
It's not damaged it doesn't have a mark on it! Read the description, mint condition means new!
And I'm not a lumia boy, only had a 920 which I no longer have, I don't even like WP so please don't presume things about me, thanks. |

^ ok ok.
mint condition does not mean new. otherwise he'd just say new.
in any case.. what i said in my post is still true. for 500, it's overpriced and people are still buying it. Which means demand and value of the Z1 is GREAT.

Nice one Sony, 3000mAh battery and the so called more efficient Qualcomm S800 CPU and they still somehow manage to post what is quite a disappointing battery test result:
The Sony Xperia Z1 battery tests are done, here’s the score
The Sony Xperia Z1 does improve in two areas over the Xperia Z – talk time is up a whopping 11 hours and the endurance rating is 5 hours higher, but the web and video playback times have barely moved (and we don’t necessarily mean “moved up,” the web browser time is actually down).
The camera, screen and chipset of the Z1 have massively improved since the original Z, the battery life has not kept pace, despite a nearly 30% bump in battery capacity. Sony seems to be relying on the Stamina Mode too much, but that disables various functions to save battery so we kept it off while testing.

Seriously?
Don't bother with excuses, I've read them all here.
Bad. Display lottery and low result battery test (as for 3000mah). This phone is amazing, but these two minus hurt |

As someone who was a hardcore SE fan? It actually disappoints me, a lot, seeing many of the same mistakes in what is now Sony Mobile. If you don't like it then you can always ignore what I post.
As someone who was a _hardcore_ SE fan, you should be very happy with the Z1. If it's not for you, that's ok. But the Z1 is making huge waves in the mobile market and creating tons of buzz. It will undoubtedly help Sony sell lots of units, increase profits, and continue on their quest to be top 3 manufacturer. As a former _hardcore_ fan, you should be excited about all the GREAT things being said about the Z1, instead of simply focusing on negatives.
But, like you said.. you _WERE_ a hardcore SE fan. You no longer are. Your loss (imho)
The great things being said are the same old, it looks pretty, nice materials etc... I've never worried about SE/Sony there, they've always been good at those, but what disappoints me seems to never get fixed, in my eyes those are signs a company that isn't growing a great deal much as they seem to repeat the same mistakes, and then the same excuses are regurgitated here.
As for making huge waves and buzz, I'll wait to see if that even translates to profit and upward movement for Sony, generating buzz hasn't been an issue even the rather average at its time Xperia S did that, but gaining actual movement and convincing other brand users to switch? THAT is a major issue.

I think Sony tweaks SW to get more talk time and than compromise a bit a video/browsing one.
Sony phones has been always famous for great talk times.

The only thing I don't like is the keyboard look (more flat, like the crappy new iOS7)
and the white menus. It's so much worse than the dark one, why do they do it.

these are active tests.. Web/Phone/Screen, stamina mode may not have helped much.
either way, small things. the camera alone cannot carry the weight of the missteps for me.
'same' size as the Note 3 with a 0.7" diag. larger screen.. those bezels.
love the construction and the brand, but its too much to over look. esp having waited this long... no 64 GB S4 came out in Mar/Apr/5/6/7/8/9.. even though it was announced at launch. then sony fumbles at the 3 yrd line.. holy hell this is annoying. stop compromising, sick and tired of waiting on the sidelines.
looks like im waiting for CES 2014.. I just want to build my own device, sick of being sandbagged by the masses and their stupidity wrt technology.
surrounded by paralleled mediocrity.. no one is pushing everyone is stagnant.

Sony is improving year after year. What needs to be fixed? Viewing angles on the screen? Increased battery time? what else?
Sony seems to be one of the fastest to update their devices with not just next level android versions, but with incremental updates to continually improve their devices.
They are very developer friendly, which is always A+ in my book.
Sony has improved their materials. They used to be criticized for using plastic materials, which seemed "cheap" on their flagship models. But now they're using aluminum and glass, with design touches only Sony can deliver.
Screen has definitely improved as can be seen in the GSMarena review. As with any device, viewing experience is subjective, but it's a fact that the screen has improved over the Z/ZL. Viewing angles aren't 178 degrees, but importance of viewing angles is subjective.
Sony has ALWAYS had fantastic battery life in real life use. With the addition of Stamina mode, it's even better. One test, from one review site shouldn't be the end all say all.
If you really were a hardcore fan back in the day, then I hope some day you return. The Z1 isn't for you and that's fine. No phone is perfect and we all should get whichever phone best suits our needs. There are plenty of people converting from iphone/galaxy to the Z1. I have a specific twitter feed for the Z1 and I see countless comments to that effect, every day. Of course, at the end of the day, sales numbers are what count. But we won't see that for some time.
If you fail to see that Sony is making great progress then you simply just don't want to see it. No one can help you there. After just 1 year of bringing the mobile division into Sony completely, they have made great strides and no doubt, will continue to into 2014.
@northmonkey tut tut what? how bout you wait for a review from a real camera site like dpreview? also, are you forgetting all the other reviews that say the camera is amazing? all the stunning sample photos? that 20mp photo posted sometime yesterday of the bee on the flower was fantastic. so i'm not sure what you're tut tuting about..
@ninja - sorry Z1 isn't where you'd like it to be! I agree with you that innovation seems to be stagnant these days. No one is really pushing the envelope. Of course, we can't expect revolutionary innovations to happy every year..

Heh. It's strange.
As Stills should be improved under the update,
look at Video - it's clearly better than main rivals.
