Hi. I hope Sony's Vanilla Android approach on their smartphones is like their Walkmans. The camera app can be handled the same way as the walkman button and no skin makes the ROM lighter...

Any detail about fancy triple microphone?
Dual noise cancellation mic, would be very welcome for me.

Its about what I expected to be honest.
Low-enders won't get updated, pretty much standard fare for the industry these days.

In this case though, it doesn't seem like they just skipped low price models, but they actually checked the performance of each model. As the architecture of Xperia U, Go and Sola is almost the same, it would have been easy (I think) to update all three with barely any extra cost, instead of just one. However, the RAM / CPU vs Resolution ratio on Xperia Go is much better compared to the other two. It doesn't have to render as many pixels.

Perhaps the improvements in smoothness because of Project Butter tax the system too much for bigger resolutions?

It does kinda disappoint me though that I get the feeling that Android seems to become bigger and more feature rich with every release, but efficiency seems to stay behind. Although it does please me to know that Sony will be going for a more vanilla approach to new versions. No useless bells and whistles that just cose RAM and ROM space, just focus on excellent alternative apps.

Their skins do get better with each iteration. The current one is still light with some worthy additions but if they want to go down the vanilla + apps route then that is even better.

I don't get it, though, how Xperia J would get 4.1 but not Xperia U and sola. There's also the Xperia E, with specs almost identical to miro but would confidently run Jelly Bean.

Okay now, I'm one standing in shock and speechless. Android 4.1 were introduced back in July 2012 and yet we Sony supporters have to wait 8 months or more depend on global schedule rolls out. This is not funny.

From initial expression, It's now good proof my sensing and not that over-bashing.
Big thank you to Sony that fulfill my freaking wish that so awesome of 8 months (or more) long waiting.

I couldn't agree more. I got my XS a week after it came out and it has been the best selling phone for this year but it will get updated a year later.

The only logical explanation I can think of is that all of the 2012 phones were leftovers and Sony is focusing on the true Sony phones in 2013 and on.

That still leaves a lot of unhappy customers that bought the 2012 phones.

The only thing I'm still seeing and the one that made me first skipping 1H12 flagship (Xperia S) to 2H12 flagship (Xperia TX) is that Sony giving more update priority for 2H products than 1H phones... I first saw this for 2011 phones when they gave Xperia arc S better update than Xperia arc... and now they're repeating them self with 2012 !!

Now they're bringing TX/T updates 1-2 months before Xperia S, while the S was more than half a year older than Xperia TX/T !! I know Sony giving more priority to newer devices and this is okay, but not for flagships !! at least bring the update in the same time or directly after it ( next month ) like TX in Feb. and S in March...

+ Thinking about facing iPhone and Galaxy meaning going for more aggressive updates also, Galaxy S3 came after Xperia S and before Xperia TX ( came in mid year ) and is already updated to JB !! and what ? No Sony phone is with JB not even new ones... and they will bring JB to the High-ends after almost 4-6 months from Samsung's S3 !!

While I don't like Samsung but I don't hate it, but for the same time I love Sony and I like them also... but take a look at the new JB update features that is introduced to S3 ( and Note 2 )... very good features and rich with ideas... Camera features is very rich even the feature I was showing to my friends in the time of Sony Ericsson Feature phones ( Burst shooting and best pic ) now is not available in Sony phones and exist in Samsung !!

Now, I'm looking forward Yuga... I wonder if it will get the same treatment as 2H13 flagship from update perspective or it will get the latest updates later than 2H13 flagship ? or the new rumored aggressive updates will affect all 2013 devices ? maybe @randomuser can give us a hint here

I bought my XS directly on release too... It doesn't matter if it's a " leftover ", it says SONY on the phone and it was announced as the "savior" of SONY... All bull...

As I said in the XS thread, this is most likely my last SONY ever. And this is coming from a -> -> SONY user since 1996!
