re: the outgoing email

the O2 smtp is o2.smtp.co.uk

So if you are using orange in an O2 locked phone the email won't go as its on their network.

Doesn't work for me (O2 sim and phone). Are you sure about that? The usual format (and the one that O2 include in their settings) would be smtp.o2.co.uk. This is getting very frustrating. I could send and receive email from my Blueyonder account with my old K750 with no trouble at all. Is anyone else having the email problem with a non-O2 phone? It might help narrow down where the problem lies (i.e. O2 or SE).

Does anyone know if there is any mac update out yet for the K800i? I wanted to use sync on OS X but the phone isn't recognised.

I had to wait ages to get an update for the K750, but i do remember someone making a 3rd party workaround so you could get it work.

Go to the following address: http://mobile.feisar.com/phone_plugins_23.html
You do need to be running 10.4.7.

Davinciteam.com can usually unlock SE phones but there is no indication that they can unlock the phone just yet.

Can I ask...?

Where did you get your phone from?
Does it have any Orange branding on the case?
Does it have any Orange branded icons or software on the phone?

Thanks

Anyone that has tried the "over-the-air" system update for the K800i? Or are we all having the latest software and thus can't update yet..?

Yes, same thing here. One can however see a demo of the procedure on SE's website, where you can "test the phone".

i saw the same shutter only once and now it's gone. I think it ships that way and on first activation it "initializes" the shutter to open.

i've noticed the shutter when taking pictures with the flash on, you can physically see the shutter moving when you take the picture..

I've had a look around but nothing as yet...

Got it from Onestopphoneshop

Orange logo on the middle of the case above the joystick and more or less the same branding as the k750i... icons, shortcut button and the various startup/themes etc.

Thanks for the info. When I called One Stop and E2Save they both told me that it was locked to Orange but not branded.

The K800I is on Orange's website for purchase today at £30 on all tariffs. So next week everyone will probably be selling it for free.

@bavlondon
the cybershot logo on the back has NOT been replaced by a 3 logo on the back only on the front, my brother has the 3 branded one and only the front logo has been replaced, the box is branded as well and the handset has been changed slightly

here you can see the 3 logo

and here you can see the butten change on the left of the phone where normally you would find the internet butten

and then here is my o2 'branded' one, which isnt really physically branded

all the pictures taken with a k800i naturallly
