@ Ama - you had the N73 and p990i - which one takes better macros? Have you had a look at the N95-8gig?...

@ Jan:
I've had the N73 and P900 (and current P1i), but no P990i.
I presume you mean between the N73 and P1i.

In macro mode, they're both pretty decent; I certainly don't think there's an outright winner between the two in this mode.
I do like the fact that I can adjust the light setting as I'm focussing on the subject matter, with the scroll wheel on the P1i, without having to go into any menus and then back out again, for example.

On default settings, and no macro mode, I still believe the N73 has the edge, in that it is far less prone to blurring in normal lighting conditions. The night mode on the N73 is also far better at picking up detail than the P1i. However, the P1i is better at most low light pics (night pic settings excluded), where I used to find that the N73 pics suffered from low light blue speckles littering the captured image in places.

I must add that I didn't have both cellphones at the same time, so what I have stated is just from my own personal findings, and thus I couldn't do a fair enough comparison between the two, i.e. same conditions etc.

WRT the N95-8Gb, only Vodafone and Orange currently stock it, unless one buys one sim-free from independent retailers here. Well it's an awesome piece of kit, as everyone knows. Haven't had a chance to play with one, though. It's gotta be touchscreen for me; it's what works for me. If Nokia brings out the much-rumoured touchscreen S60 device with similar specs, I'll be giving the G900 a miss...

BTW, hope you get that paragliding 'chute sorted.

@ jmash:
Good to hear that. Hold them to that promise re new phone next week; don't accept any BS excuses for delays longer than that, mfowethu.

@ Kyle
Nice bro
Don't worry about the buttons, the plastic used on them seems to be quite flexible. Im still kinda struggling to get used to the Red button when dropping a call, i always push the soft key.
The USB transfer speed is not that good, even when i transfer a 50mb RealMedia South Park episode it takes a bit long, but when doing that to my PSP it takes a few seconds.
Lol i read your reply at Prodigits in OPDA Cert request. Where have Voda branded it? At the back? What FW version do you have? V11? Do *#0000# to check.

@hobbs,

I dot knw why its so slow. Lol. I have a dual core 1.8 laptop.

@gucci.

The plastic does seem thin. The brandin is on the front. Where yours says nokia about the keys. Mind says vodafone. The nokia badge is on the left between the gaming keys and the screen. And the n81 badge is on the right of that. Its v11.0.045

WOW! Thats some f***** up branding! Voda know how to kill the original look hey, as long as it still looks good bro. The plastick may be thin but it will last, what you must be careful of is the Gaming keys,ive read that some people have managed to crack them lol! It feels like a delicate phone but it can take some punishment,ive dropped mine on a concrete floor and dropped it on my bed side table a few times and its still good lol. cul, theres a V15 or V20 FW coming with FL3.0 (full YouTube) AND WRT Widgets support, ALSO the navi-wheel will be activated in more menus.
what apps have you installd?

Got this email a couple of minutes ago and I don't know whether to laugh or cry at the piss poor choices given to me by Vodacom for a free upgrade.

Dear *******

Thank you for your e-mail communication to Vodacom.

Please see the list of handsets available to you free upon upgrade on the Talk 240 package.

Sony Ericsson K550i, K660i, K800i, K810i, T650i, W200i, W580i, W610i, W660i, W880i Gold, W890i and the W910i.

Nokia N70, N70 Speaking phone, N73, N76 and the N81.

Please confirm which handset you wish to select in order to generate the upgrade quotation and forward this to you. Please provide your physical address as well as an alternate contact number, for the delivery of the handset.

The W910 looked interesting until remembered that it does not have wi-fi- which is especially handy when I'm loafing around an airport waiting for a flight. I'm partial to the N81 but there's just too many questions and what I've read so far on here has not swayed me towards the Evil Empire.

@HOBBS: Not too many friends in Thailand, have been too busy with the course but I'm leaving on Sunday for the Philippines.
