Yes. Panasonic had fixed 28mm lens.
Samsung was true zoom with 20.7MP 1/2.3", same specs of xperia z1 camera sensor.
Panasonic CM1 was small like Xperia compacts. |

The big question is the ergonomics. Will Sony be able to keep the thickness of the phone to acceptable levels because if not, this is not going to sell well 
It will be interesting how they will do it.

I doubt they'll replace the RX100 line..
It's still making money as many people still love it. If Sony really want to succeed, they shoudn't kill one line to just bring a new thing that might not sell as well as expected. They should improve the RX100 (because so far, the RX100 VII had been overwhelming to me), while making big changes in their mobile photography technology.
Those two are still different devices, targetted for two different consumer types. It won't help them survive to kill RX100.

Even before pandemic, cam market was already in trouble.
Most of the cameras sold are apsc + kit lens.
If even during this awful 2020, 1 ii can sell more than 1 despite being 250,00 more expensive , this is their chance.

Unless this supposed pro device is just actually the next gen RX, with cellular connectivity.
No smartphone will have a viewfinder, or even a hotshoe, these are camera characteristics, not smartphone.

again no way a phone will have LAN on it.

So, they do not plan to go to IFA, but still cannot announce devices before the original date?
That is so annoying?
Also, it is bizarre that they had demo of Pro to be used by NBC Sports/Verizon in 2019 but still phone is not for sale. |

Where does it say that? nothing stopping Sony from announcing early. Perhaps they want to wait until after all the announcements are done before having an event, assuming one is even taking place.

They were supposed to be at MWC on 24th FEV.
it was canceled way before that, still they did not announce earlier.
All phones should be announced in february.
Since there is no longer 6 month cycle, pointless to leave non-premium for september.
