i'm pretty sure that they are making you pay 700 euro and then "giving you free watch/headset"
ahahah
so i'm not buying it from them, i want to wait to get the one without the "free" watch/headset, and that should cost me about 600 euros...
i have survived 3 years with my galaxy s1, i can survive with it for another month or so.
and finally! i'v been waiting weeks for this: from GSMarena Blog:
our detailed Sony Xperia Z1 review is currently in the oven and you should expect it to be ready for consumption in a matter of hours.

^i'm not so sure about that. I think it really is a "free" accessory.. since there are many sites that are selling the Z1 at the same price without any freebies..

Nice one Sony, 3000mAh battery and the so called more efficient Qualcomm S800 CPU and they still somehow manage to post what is quite a disappointing battery test result:
The Sony Xperia Z1 battery tests are done, here’s the score
The Sony Xperia Z1 does improve in two areas over the Xperia Z – talk time is up a whopping 11 hours and the endurance rating is 5 hours higher, but the web and video playback times have barely moved (and we don’t necessarily mean “moved up,” the web browser time is actually down).
The camera, screen and chipset of the Z1 have massively improved since the original Z, the battery life has not kept pace, despite a nearly 30% bump in battery capacity. Sony seems to be relying on the Stamina Mode too much, but that disables various functions to save battery so we kept it off while testing.

Seriously?
Don't bother with excuses, I've read them all here.

You are absolutely right! Sony gaining momentum in the mobile industry. I cannot even imagine what the lines would look like in China if the ban on gaming consoles gets fully lifted. Sony could sell 100 million PS4 in China alone.
EDIT
@Tsepz_GP
The Sony display are so inefficient and eat battery. That is supposed to change next year . I was told that Sony is working on a new back-light design for the Triluminos mobile displays which is supposed to be up to 50% more energy efficient.

that's really very disappointing! could be a software issue. could be xreality consuming a lot of power. lg g2 almost doubles its browsing and video playback longevity. maybe they wanted to show off with their display so they sent a unit with an incredible display that consumes so much battery juice. it will really be very depressing if the display also turns out to be just as bad. |

there's a ban on gaming consoles in china? wow..
is that a line in china or taiwan? eprice seems like a taiwanese site.
a bit disappointing on the battery test numbers, but i'm not concerned at all. i've never had battery issues with my phone. of course, i'm not the type who sits and watches movies for hours, games for hours, or browses the web constantly on my phone So for me, talk time is most important.
it could be any number of reasons. They did not turn off x-reality, which I'm sure eats up a lot of battery life as its analyzing every frame of video as its being displayed. i think it'd only be a comparable test if they turned off enhancements like that. obviously, if you're using more "features".. battery will get drained more. Do sammy and LG have image enhancement software running like that?
@dacha.. you so sure the screen is inefficient? I think it's a software thing tbh.. battery life usually gets better with updates. I mean.. how do you explain the ZR's battery life? Web Browsing at 11 hrs but Video at 7hrs? it just seems weird to me. If it were a screen issue, I would think it'd have closer numbers when the screen is involved. Could be that bravia engine or x-reality is running during video playback, which is the real battery drain.

The Sony Xperia Z1 battery tests are done, here’s the score
Hmmm, if the screen lottery is still true and it looks like GSM Arena got the good display (1:1500 contrast ratio), then somehow Sony still hasn't done good battery optimization when it comes to their phones' display. The usual very impressive talk time downed by the web browsing and video playback time. |

Expected lot from 3000mAh Web browser score is so less.

hemmm... it's really interesting...
as we all know battery life could be solve with software updates.. that's not a problem.
I want to point out a few things.
first:
the X-reality engine actually uses the GPU, and not the CPU for it's analysis, so watching high quality movies will use both CPU and GPU power which will lead to greater battery consumption.
second:
video playback will improve with software updates.
third:
they haven't used the stamina mode...
p.s.
sony uses chrome, which i found heavy and hungry for resources..
as oppose samsung that uses their own browser...
maybe the chrome eats a lot of battery too..

the numbers just don't make sense to me haha.. putting talk time aside since it doesn't use the screen or any real feature enhancements..
ZR has fantastic web browsing but so so video..
ZU has blah web and respectable video..
Z1 has blah web and blah video
there's no real consistency.. its very interesting indeed. based on experience, i really think battery life will improve with software updates. but time will tell i guess.
@sponse - true they didn't use stamina mode, but they were correct to turn it off for the battery test to make it "fair" against other phones. however, for the same reason, they should have turned off x-reality, which they did not. I wonder if they'd be willing to redo the test with x-reality turned off?

I have to disagree with you that software updated will improve video playback time and browsing time.
My current phone ZL had several software updates since release but the screen on time has not changed.
I have never been able to get over 5 hours screen on time and stamina mode is always one.
The software updates greatly improved the standby time but the screen still drains the battery the most. |
