this I admit is one of SE ui weakness, and it's related to it's not being a smartphone by heritage. Java apps not shortcutable.

But one key to go from standby to main menu, another to activity menu, honestly not of concern to me. big deal? Ideally though, SE non-smartphone UI will adopt active standby screen (K800 is part way there)

Didnt you say SE UI is better than "ALL" of S60?

Apparently k850 onwards you can assign apps as shortcuts, like to the directions of the dpad in standby. left is usually set as new sms by default. You could then have opera mini as right joystick. Better than a main menu.

In terms of pricing for the States, SE does not subsidize its sales because its launch phones are usually matriculated via grey market (unless you want to buy through SonyStyle which will have its usual market markup). Expect launch price to reflect the currency exchange of 360 pounds or 470 Euros, which equates to roughly 675 bucks on launch.

The pricing is a big pass for me, as I see ~450 of utility in the phone. However, if it is indeed purported to being picked up by various NA carriers, expect the price subsidization to cause dramatic depreciation for launch buyers.

My advice: if you've ever taken economics 101, you should know not to buy this phone on launch in NA.

It is not and you know it.

The video you took is it from a prototype? Without being rude, I have to say the quality is quite bad for QVGA@30fps. And it certainly doesnt look like 30fps video. It looks like the SE infamous QCIF quality but with bigger size.

Like I said to max_wedge, my 2-years old N70 takes much better quality video (CIF@15fps) than these. Just hope SE can improve before release otherwise the QVGA video is no more than a gimmick.

IF I'm not wrong, all k850 prototypes are producing only 15fps recordings. Maybe SE wants to give us surprises when final official launch is out (better camera performance, video perfoemance, etc etc......)

true but I still prefer SE UI by a long shot (even without java shortcuts). No UI is perfect, including Nokia.

I've only seen one sample of K800 video. My N70 recorded video pauses every couple of seconds or so in playback. It's unusable, is this normal for the N70? This is a freshly flashed (music edition) N70. So far I've not been impressed by the N70 for stability or performance.
