Hm cool, might have to have a look at flight control. Sounds like a patience game tho - which i'm no good at!
You're right though, think most are waiting for 3.0... some are even playing with 3.0 now. Contemplated it myself for a while as you can install it with a workaround without needing your UDID added to a dev acc. Just couldnt do without WinterBoard and customisation... it's still a big thing for me
I'm sincerely hoping that O2 will allow 3G users to sign a new contract and upgrade to the new model, like they did with the 2G-3G transition. Especially as talk of O2 losing exclusivity on the iPhone... if so they'll be even more likely to wanna keep iPhone users for as long as poss.

Apart from that I've been playing Flight Control (as mentioned by Masseur on the last page) quite a bit, only got up to 63 as my high score... that was 59p too.
...
its addictive! I'm up to 194 now!

That's true, if there's actually going to be fair competition for iPhone custom then they may well offer us existing customers a good deal. I won't hold my breath though - to be fair, getting the new software will be quite a good upgrade in itself, and with June being slap bang in the middle of my 18 months I'm quite happy with that..
I suppose patience plays a part in Flight Control, it does get pretty hectic though!
EDIT: Very impressive Masseur!! I'm not surprised you took a screen shot!

I'm probably going to swap my iphone in due to the dust that has now accumulated but I'm worried about what I will get in return
has anyone done a swap and have some feedback on that?
also, please remind me how I un-jailbreak the iphone before I take it back

Where has the dust accumulated, under the screen? Can't really help on the jailbreak, I always assumed it was just a matter of letting itunes do some kind of restore of factory settings or FW update though.

the dust is fairly scattered, probably about 10 or so small fragments, but 3 or 4 larger ones that have now become noticeable in some light situations and which are particularly annoying when watching videos

197! Bah! You're pretty good at it then masseur lol I've just had a go and got 6! I can already see how it all gets quite confusing!!
@Boinng Very true with re: the software update, at least with the iPhone there are regular updates to the software - and in this next case, a rather major one!
@masseur - to un-do the jailbreak just simply restore it in iTunes and you're done. Sorry to hear about your dust problem too... pretty annoying. Mine is still due to go back for a swapsie

@Masseur
I noticed dust under the screen of mine too, the other day but it's not significant so I'll ignore it for the time being. Getting it serviced would mean I'd need to prepare myself to be without it... There are no 5800's or W890's at my place to ease the pain, only a V800 for sentimental reasons.

earlier today I organised an "Advanced Replacement Service" where they send me a replacement iPhone and then I send mine back to them
so I should be sorted by early next week
fingers crossed I don't get some other issue with the replacement as mine has been perfect with the exception of the recent unexpected dustbuster functionality!
btw, I've seen the recent iPhone app ads on TV but I bet they don't have an app for this!

got the replacement via UPS yesterday and I'm happy again. The replacement phone certainly looks totally new with no marks and totally shiny again!
although you have to pay £30 for the advance replacement service (where they send you the new phone and then you send back the old), its well worth it and its very well done as UPS deliver the new phone and then come back and collect the old phone when you're ready (although make sure you do it within 10 days or you get charged full price for the new phone)
the resynch of my data was flawless with the exception that my wifi setting got lost somehow.
I did the the "Erase all contents and settings" on the old iphone and I can't believe what is essentially a master reset took an hour! Apple told me to expect that too!
At the end of it the iphone got stuck on reboot at the apple logo so I had to do a restore to get it going again. Not sure if that was a consequence of it having been jailbroken
having done this now, I'm wondering if I should have waited until early July, just before the warranty runs out, to get this replacement
