Hey guys, I'd like to get a k800i very soon; but I've some questions.
1) How about the joystick of k800i if compare to k750i ? Is it better ?
2) It seems that there's a M2 MS packaged with the phone, is it a 512 MB ?
3) About the headset, is it the same as k750i ?

so far so good, but it will take time to tell I guess

you seem to have missed the many discussions about the fact there is no memory stick included

3) About the headset, is it the same as k750i ?
yes, its the same as that supplied with the K750

@ Fat100

The K800 joystick has been improved from the K750's, it is now more protected and doesn't allow dust and other dirt to get under it and into the phone.

It was thought that a 64MB M2 Micro memory stick was included, but only some people have got them or better depending on who they bought their K800 from. The majority of people do not get an M2 included.

It was thought that the K800 would include the better headset that the W800 has, HPM-70, but like the M2 it seems that only a few people get these depending on who they bought their K800 from, the majority of people will only get a HPM-60 headset, the same one that the K750 has.

Questions

How is the K800's software CD?

Is it just the same as the K750, which means putting files onto the phone via the boring 'File Manager'?

Or is it a nice new actual 'program' similar to the software CD program of the Walkman phone's?

---

When you buy the phone brand new, does it come with a 3G sim card or just a normal one?

If the phone 'does not' come with a 3G sim card, where can I get one and how much?

---

Last question, do O2 support email and all 3G services?

Thankyou.

I haven't touched the CD, I installed the pc suite direct from the support site.

its changed quite alot now since the K750 version I was running and looks like this

quite smart actually!

so, you can use disc2phone if you have also installed that, or the file manager.

When you connect via USB the phone prompts you for either file transfer mode, or phone mode

in phone mode there are no windows drives setup for the internal or external memory so you have to use the file manager.

in file transfer mode you get the following display

two drives are setup, one for the internal memory and one for the memory stick, as follows:

I hope that answered that part of your question

I'll try and answer your questions o2 DO use all of 3g services I was told today.

Ordered my upgrade from o2 today which will come with a 3g sim (even though the women said they do have limited supply of the sims at the mo).

I've downloaded the software already and seems to be ok (without the phone ). Never use the CD anyway.

When I first opened the camera there was a small shutter inside it that opened...now when I slide the protector back I don't seem to see it...any ideas?

Have you noticed that the ring volume is very low - even when it is set up at the highest setting!!

It seems to get better when the 'Increasing ring' is activated but not enough

Thanks Masseur...

Looks really smart and is obviously a proper program now rather than the K750's 'folder' - as simple as that, a folder lol.

Also thanks Lembo for that O2 info.

Last one, does O2 support Email? Can I use a computer email address so to recieve and send from the same inbox/outbox etc.

Just how fast is the response time of the K800i camera? Fast enough to actually "never miss a shot"?

I find the W800i's camera a little slow when taking shots. Since the autofocus can't be turned off, it'll still take the phone about 1-2 seconds before a shot can be made even if I quickly press the camera button all the way down (to bypass the autofocus).

Ahh, didn't realise you could save more than one, I'll give it a try later on.

Still begs the question why it was an option in the proto firmware, but removed for final release.

BestPic was on the prototype and is on the final (press the almost-invisible button on the bottom left in camera mode, with the phone turned around).

On the prototype, it was SUPER slow to create the thumbnails and save individual images. The list was also at the top of the screen and it crashed the phone A LOT!

On the final version, it's instant and quite amazing - but a 'save all' would be great in addition to clicking on any/all pictures to save them. In fact, auto saving all would be good for when you're after the 'right picture' but may want to check on a PC [it's hard to spot the best picture on the phone screen] later.

The current system also means that pressing back up will not save a single image. Suddenly, you've got a feature where you don't miss that perfect shot - but you can 'forget' to save it.

BestPic is awesome but SE will have a battle on their hands to convince people that it is nothing like burst mode/multishot on any other product.

Apologies, I actually meant that I wonder why they took Burst Mode of the final when it was in the prototype. I agree with what you've said about BestPic, the speed it works at is amazing.

I've still yet to figure out how it works, according to the manual if you press the shutter halfway then it starts taking pics, but isn't that when it's also trying to autofocus? Will that mean the first few will always be out of focus?

Burst Mode did have it's advantage of auto-saving. Surely there was reasons to have both on the final firmware?

It makes sense to have a Save All function, especially if the snapper is in a situation where a lot of action is going on, e.g a contact sport.

On recent handsets, after the picture has been taken it is shown on the view-finder. If you then press the camera-button again, the picture is saved automatically and you can resume. Does this not happen with the K800i?

I used to use the back button but now pressing the camera button is quicker.

If not, I suppose it might take a while to save all 9 images so a more powerful processor would be needed.
