well this dns will not work on free gprs as it is a dns of proxy
if u have used sify than i am sure u must be aware that there u have 1 private ip and its dns but when u connect to net u get public ip and dns which is different from private ip. it is same on airtel free gprs too

Dude you mentioned you are gettin 5 kbps on mo. Which phone are you using. I am also using mo and i get around 6 kbps constant. At one point i got a speed of over 15 kbps for a few mins on my W550i yesterday. Some of the buddies here had told that edge phones have a gr8 speed advantage. Is this high speed seen only on edge but not 3g phones. Yesterday i tested the speed on se k608i which is a 3g/umts phone but has no edge. The speed was the same, around 6 kbps. By the way does anyone know of any se model which supports edge, not 3g.
Also i have noticed that the speed varies with file types . I sometimes get over 20 kbps , sometimes even above 30 while downloading themes for my mobile. For most other file types like mp3 and 3GP, the speed is around 6k only. And does enabling the data compression and header compression settings on the phone increase any speed? And what type of compression do they mean here . . . Software or modem hardware compression? By default its always disabled. .

I'm using N70 and I'm getting only 5KBps constantly with MO. But in our free GPRS, it sometimes go upto 6KBps(morning). I don't know why! But I was getting same speed on 6630 too. So I think it may be a network problem.

You can't ping addresses of 202.56.xxx.xxx series using airtelfun.com APN.

I m just wonderin... If MO is full internet gprs , then why is airtel MO settings configure the wap browser proxy to 202.56.231.117:8080!!! I always disable the proxy on my phone and the speed is better without proxy...
By the way, i ve finally configured my mobile email client for gmail and its working awesome.
Moreover , mobyexplorer - java ftp client is also working perfect! And finally Yahoo messenger and MSN work without any prob. MO does have its advantages:) |
