So what does everyone make of the NXE? Spent some time flicking through it all last night, and it is just generally a nicer experience. Scrolling through videos and stuff is much quicker and the general 'eye candy' is nice. I guess thats pretty much all you can say about it - it's nice |

well, xbox 360 support got me to do a few tests...
remove the cables
wait 10 seconds
plug the cables back in
what colour is the light on the psu (green)
how many red lights around the power switch (4)
then they got me to try another power cable from the wall into the psu (as they're standard), same results
but now they're telling me the warranty is still only one year and I must pay for the fix. when its fixed then I get 2 (or was it 3 years?) warranty
its about £60 to fix apparantly

They are real crafty with this they catch people out loads, as far as i am aware the you get the standard 1 year warranty from date of purchase, and the RROD warranty covers you for 3 years from date of purchase.

well, now they're telling me 3 reds is 3 year warranty from date of purchase, but 4 reds is just one year! so I have to pay £60. oh well, its going to be picked up by UPS early next week
question: alot of sites offer xbox 360 with 60gb drive (argos, amazon) whereas others offer xbos 360 premium with 60gb drive and same offer xbox 360 pro with 60gb drive (dixons)
are these the same or is there some difference?

The premium was the original xbox with a hard drive, no HDMI and it was replaced by the Pro. Some stores call it the Pro and some still call it the Premium, but it'll be exactly the same xbox. If there is a 60GB hard drive in the box, it's a Pro, but it's just called a Premium as they still address it as such in the shop

ok, I'll try that.
in the meantime I got a new machine now so I'll try the bits from that on the old one and see if the old one still shows the lights. support seemed quite keen that it might be power and/or a/v cable related rather than the box itself.
and... my daughter will be happy now too as she'll have the new 60gb and with hdmi

well we've unplugged and replugged several times but no diff. we just haven't tried different cables yet for the a/v, so I'll try the ones out of the new box and see if it makes a diff

well, the new xbox 360 won't fail on the old cables but unfortunately the old xbox 360 won't fail on the new cables, although it is easy to fail it on the old cables, leaving it still a bit open where the source of the problem is exactly
but my daughter is over the moon with the HDMI connection and she didn't care that she didn't copy her files from the old 20gb drive to the new 60gb. She's happy to start all over again!
