@ Hobbster:
Re-ignited the P990i affair? Knew the wind would change direction again; die 'Kaapse Dokter' blowing in CT today? Must be UIQ favour today then, LOL.
Wi-fi is sporadic in parts here. A regular wi-fi scan at home picks up my broadband router and one or two others. Only when I'm away from home or work do I actually use it, if/where wi-fi hotspots are. (as I mentioned before, I'm surrounded by unlimited broadband at work and home, so no pressing need for accessing it).
Some local coffee shops are cleverly marketing themselves as wi-fi hot spots, and then wi-fi comes into its own on the P1i.
Thing is, most times that we're out and about, we're socialising or spending quality time together, so I seldom use wi-fi in such situations...balance in life and all that. Darth Mario will be so proud of me...

@ Gucci:
Ya it's a nca treat once in a while; we seldom have liqueurs though.
Having said that, Frangelico remains a firm fave. Dang, liquid hazelnuts at its best!

@da wanqsta: What are the speeds like on wi-fi hotspots? And don't these networks drain your battery?

@JC08: I own the new iPod Nano- my second one. Have to say its a brilliant little device and does what its supposed to do- most of the time.
My only gripe is with the new iTunes software, particularly the sync function...my specific beef being that doesn't always note the last songs played and new song added to the library.
Don't know about watching movies on the small screen, unless you're down with squinting your way through the Lord of The Rings trilogy.
For R1300 its not too bad I suppose.

Jc ģwith R1300 id track me down a 8GB M2/Pro Duo memory stick and stick it in my P990i.One device for me.Ive never gotten into the whole Ipod craze im afraid.Brix has one so maybe he can advise you better, but for me it would be spent on a 8GB card.

@ da brixsta: Wi-fi hotspots here, like most others, are usually either 802.11b (up to 10mpbs) or (occasionally) 802.11g, up to 54mbps!

The P1i's wi-fi is 802.11b like many others. And yes, the battery's juice level did show a relatively quick drop each time on those few occasions, as expected.

Now then, imagine being equipped with 802.11n when this proposed new benchmark emerges later in 2009, supporting speeds up to 108mbps...!!

Battery technology just can't keep up...sigh.

EDIT: I'll try be more precise and accurate re:performance stats next time we visit the local Starbucks.

@ Hobbs geez man, haha its only bad to wakeup at that time, but I easily wake and after that i have lots of energy... I dont think I'll get a 8gb card as I feel the SQ of my k810 arent good enough and that I'll be upgrading to soon to spend so much dough on something I may not use... Atm phones that can cater to all my needs is about n95-8gb only, and maybe n82 but we'll see... The problem is it takes to long for the new feature packed phones to be released... I like g900, but I really want HSDPA as i browse mainly with my phone...

We're bracing ourselves for the second phase of the huge, severe storm that's due to hit us early tomorrow morning. Even now the wind's starting to pick up again.
Eish, hope all the roof tiles and wooden fence panels hold out OK over the next 24-48 hours.

Ay i agree with Wanqa, browsing through a WiFi connection takes lots battery, i usualy do that when im at McDonalds, Trumps or Breadbreakfast when waiting alone to go home from a Mall, but it's so fast and smooth.
@ JC
Dam boet thats heavy! Im getting too lazy to gym lol!
@ Brix
For battery life i'd say rather get a P1,it has a much higher capacity battery than W960 and P990.

@JC08: I forgot to mention Coverflow on the new iPod's is brilliant.

Don't think I mentioned the P990 as a possibility.

@da wanqsta: Don't think batteries can keep up with the increases in speeds of the available networks.

Did you guys check the tech news today? Apparently Ericsson predict that wi-fi hotspots will soon be a thing of the past.
