Some of former Nokia camera team at Apple, delivered leap improvement year in year out
and now Pixel camera team going to make formal challenge, let's see what will happen next
Badassmam, I don't think we can't utmost blame Sony here for camera department failure,
they try hardest to steering business back to positive flow, it is heavy task these days even few can make profit,
making improvement on their own investment without Google's guidance (API) is barely impossible to do so.
Like we used to say here couple years, Sony need to soup up their own Image Signal Processing (with or without BIONZ marketing scheme) and re-engineer their software to make formal challenge again, only good hardware is no longer to be key advantage much like old day that they used to bragged before.

^ I hear you but you misunderstood what I said. If low light performance is poor then that is alright because we know that is the case and perhaps they're not smart enough to deal with it. I would still buy it because poor camera performance compared to other flagships doesn't make it a rubbish camera because they are indeed good but just not as good the other flagships. My issue is with the distortion being so bad because it scares me to buy from them if Sony tell you to expect that.
I know people working at Sony, they deserve massive credit for keeping the mobile division alive and still producing great devices. They could have easily not made the XZ Premium and concentrated on selling billions of cheap phones in developing countries as an alternative strategy. Regardless of reviews, my next device will be from Sony. |

Translation of article...
" In the information of the other day, the next "Xperia" appearing in 2018 is said to increase the screen occupation rate from the current "68%" level to "80%" level, and the possibility to finally adopt the bezelless design finally It is predicted to be high. For details, "On the contrary, if the dropping place is good, what will the bezel of next" Xperia "appear in 2018 like this? Please refer to.
Although it is "active display" of "Japan display" which was not actually adopted in "Xperia XZ 1", it is said that it is highly likely to be adopted for the next Xperia that appears in the beginning of next year. In the latest information, there is information related to "Bezelless design", but there is no information about "display". Although some information is said to be equipped with "organic EL display", it is almost equal to the amount of information. There is also a forecast that the "display" of the next "Xperia" will be strengthened considerably. For details, "Are the specs of the LCD mounted on the next" Xperia XZ1 premium "leak? What? Please refer to. According to this information, SONY is supposed to adopt "SUPER TOP EMISSION". It is considered to be one of the means for improving the light permeability which is a drawback of the organic EL display. However, when you look at the flow up to now, "2 K" has never been adopted for "Xperia", and it sticks to "FHD" to the last. In other words, except for "Xperia XZ premium", basically it is possible to think that "FHD" is enough. Unless you forcibly adopt an organic EL display, there is a possibility that you will have better coloring and bright LCD due to the synergistic effect with "SUPER TOP EMISSION" technology. Moreover, the display developed by Japan Display is said to be further thinner than before, and additionally the cost is said to be cheap. Speaking of organic EL display, although the main supplier is SAMSUNG, there is a disadvantage that cost is too high. That is why it is better for the user to forcibly adopt "organic EL display" and suppress the increase in the price of the main body. Let's hope for the next report."
The new Full Active Screen of JDI is said to be 0.5mm thickness, while oled has 1mm.
The cam sensor is said to be thinner too.
So there will be more space to other components.
I think the screen needs better Sunlight Contrast Ratio.
600 nits are more than enough.
Sony says Z3+ is the brightest Xperia, many tech websites say is Z3. I have never used Z3, so I cannot say.
But Z3+ is much brighter than necessary for indoor use and bright enough for outdoor.
@x350 A1E seems to use STE

The news says the screen is 5.5 inches. I hope it will be 5.8 or 6 inches. |

Front cam of XZ1c is 8MP for 120°.
But for narrower ( 80° I guess) shots there is only 3MP option available.
So, my guess is ...
This 2nd cam might take 12MP photos RGB and 3MP photos B/W.
I have no idea, just a guess ...
This phone does not sound like a " XZ1P" to me, but kinda " XZ1s".
