Updated to JB today... Touch screen is smoother and hopefully will fix some issues that I was experiencing with my phone.

Question: does anyone know how to change the lock screen picture? Theme pictures are ok but I would like to use a different one.

Just go into your display settings and change it from there

I hope it would be that easy but it's not. The picture I'm talking is the one in the LOCK SCREEN, I can change it by changing the theme but I don't find a way to add a custom picture.

are you using default screen lock type? (slide type)
if yes you can change the lock screen wallpaper by this :
1 go to setting
2 go to display
3 click lock screen settings
4 choose the wallpaper (then you must choose between album or xperia wallpapers)

We'll ill agree there it's not ICS battery, but after playing with some sync stuff on the phone that I don't use and turning battery extender on its much much better than it was.
I think the OTA is better than doing it via pc companion to be fair.

I wish Sony/ T-Mobile UK would hurry up and release JB for my Xperia T, getting bored of waiting now.

Why don't you flash it with UK generic mate? If you really want JB that much. The one thing I'll day is that t mobile are very hood at making sure firmware bang on. So don't panic to much there doing good mate especially with how buggy JB is!

Personally I feel you guys are better off waiting for T-Mobile/Orange to release a stable build for you, ics is great on the t but jellybean does have some bugs that need to be fixed, ie, the walkman player bug and the poor battery life.

I have an Xperia T LT30p with build 7.0.a.3.195 , android 4.0.4 - I started the contract around mid November last year, just two weeks before my GF walks into Tesco and picks up the same phone.

we both have the same phone model
we both were on 7.0.a.3.195 and andriod 4.04
we both use T-Mobile UK Network

She bought from Tesco, I got direct from T-Mobile

Last week her phone updated over the air to Jelly Bean. My phone didn't? So i tried PC companion and there was no updates found? so i reset my phone (after backing up) and tried again.. hmm no dice. So i rang T-Mobile and they said they were not doing over the air updates (strange seen as the other half got JB fine OTA ?)

On the Sony website it says its available but again no dice.

Any ideas, the only difference i can see is that im with T-mobile as a contract provider and she is with Tesco?

Their advice was to take it to a T shop and get them to manually firmware it (using what? pc companion lol)

Im confused and not sure if my phone is a 1st run batch version that wont be supported of the Xperia T or if its borked or what?

anyone else thinking and waiting for the update may just be waiting a long time!

I'm guessing that your girlfriend's phone is probably an unbranded phone so it's just updated to the generic jellybean and not T-Mobiles one.

@phill1978

On your phone go to the dialer and dial

*#*#7378423#*#*

The service menu should pop-up. In the service menu go to

Service info > Software info

Under Customization Version there should be an 8 digit code something like 1266-5825). This is what is known as the 'kit'. This determines what region/network your handset is customised to.

Sony release the firmware updates by this customisation number in order of which region/network approves the firmware updates first.

Check your kit number and your girlfriend's. Chances are they are different. This could be because perhaps Tesco handsets have their own customisation (unlikely) or they supply sim-free 'generic' handsets (more likely). Places like Carphone Warehouse sell their handsets sim-free also, whereas network sourced handsets (from a network shop or over the phone directly with their customer services) are usually customised to that network. THREE used to be particularly bad with updates as they have a lot of network software such as Planet3 (dunno if they still do that).

There are ways to effectively change your region/network 'kit' number and update your firmware outside of the 'official' firmware upgrading paths. Risk is minimal and it would mean you can potentially get the updates faster next time round.
