For India, the official Z1 launch date is September 18th Same should hold true for most of Asia i.e. Week 3 of September.
So at least for Asia, announcement to availability within 2 weeks

Fantastic if it is launched in global markets two weeks or so after announcement.
That is probably more difficult to acheive while keeping a lid on the product as they did than actually make the phone!
I will keep my expectations of a mid oct Docomo launch so they have time to burn their logo and fill the memory with crapware, but i would love sony and docomo to prove me wrong, of course!
Whatever the timeline it will sell like hotcakes in Japan, so they better ensure fast delivery overseas.
It would be good for Sony that they have some plan for the US market, but given the saturation, i understand it may not be a priority this time for "outsider" when iphone will launch.
Thanks for your replies on the magnetic dock.
If there are accessories for ZU, I have no doubt they will sell accessories for honami as well.
And on the success, failure, debate, how do you define success anyway?
Shouldn't it be market share and revenue in the target markets?
So nokia lumia 1020 is a success because of big sensor?
I don't know if honami will be called a success, but if it delivers on expectations in line with the current specs including the awsome camera, yes 1/2.3 is awsome for a phone, then it is mine which makes it a success at least for me!

Unfortunately its not honami.
You can clearly see dust particles on upper right corner, even when zooming, and if it was using digital lossless zoom it wouldn't be the case. |

Possible, but nobody said anything about video recording on clip-on lenses. For now it looks fake, if not I apologize the author for doubts

Got an email from Sony in Sweden!
Got the same email here. Guess it's due to the account I created in the SE days.

Me too... received a Mail from SonyMobile EU...
Something big is coming
Another reason to buy it! I was really interested how the LED was... I was hoping for something similar to Miro or SP, but still this is better then the Z, with that anonymous single LED so happy!
It's really good... yopu can see form the front and from the back so it's really visible... I hope it will bear the same app you can found in the SP to personalise the LED |

^Nah, bezels looks large like Honami. If that was Honami mini with those bezels, if it would be 109 x 58 mm, it could be just under 3.5" max in display size.
Edit:
That's probably why there's this,
And at the back, too?

Great catch man!
I hope LED can change colors (for instance, blue blinking when there are missed calls/sms, red when charging - green when fully charged, etc)...

Yes yes... it will be changable... even in the Z its customizable... you just need the right app (as Lightflow) if it is not already installed between the Xperia settings under Display..

this phone is currently in mass production, it will be released in Asia first (like all before it)
As an XZU owner I can only confirm that every aspect of this device will be just superb - the Ultra is the most impressive thing I have ever talked too, the build quality - the performance - the screen - even the camera is outstanding - it is a thing of beauty, the Aluminium frame on the white is left native and just brushed (I hope they do this with the black) it's a thing of astounding design - weird thing is I wish the Ultra was a bit thicker, not that it feels fragile but just that there seems to be this need to push boundaries about thickness or thinness - the ultra is a sturdy solid phone but I honestly could care less if it was 3mm thicker I'd feel more confident if a bashed or dropped it - first thing I did was enclose it in a cover (for protection go figure) which has probably made it 3mm thicker ????????? I just get the impression there's a pissing competition going on between all the makers - so the insides are the same but our claim to fame is it's 1mm thinner than yours...... the focus is wrong
If we are to believe all we have read so far about the Z1 I could care less if it was 2mm fatter with a proper flash or at least 3 leds or what ever - my pocket has depth limitation but not girth for a few mm.....JMO |
