With the sensor only being 1/2.3 and no Xenon and Sony being Sony I can't see the Honami being a success in the camera department. |

@Tsepz_GP - logically, if they wanted bigger screens in the same body, it would mean smaller bezels.
@northmonkey - because sony being sony doesn't have the best camera sensors and some of the best camera lines in the market? oh ok.

Digital Camera's yes they do but mobile phone cameras? No way! Xperia S, T, Z all a let down in the camera department and all beaten by S3, S4 and more.
Sony haven't made decent cameraphones since the C902, C905, Satio, K800

@northmonkey
In case you missed it, Honami camera has been handled by Sony's Cybershot/Alpha team so do not generalize Honami with Z/T/S etc. Honami is a completely different beast. |

Well in fairness it doesn't need to, since
1: it'll be compatible with QX100 which gives vastly superior image quality hands down
2. class leading image quality does not translate to successful sales, much less success for photographers, even the top ranking images on flicker such as those taken by iphones look great nonetheless, even if the camera isn't something worth noting at. most of the time it's on how a user uses his/her camera, not even a Full frame sensor cameraphone can produce great pics on the hands of a noob photographer you know
3. Usually Xenon flashes are used by photographers as complementary lighting source for portraits and etc, not as the substitute for daylight illumination as people might expect, and I personally don't shoot night pictures with flash, not unless you want some party shots which is quite an easy feat with today's LED flashes. I for one wants a xenon flash for Honami but not anymore as a built in strobe, but rather as an accessory so I can experiment with my pictures with more creativity.
4. 1/2.3" is still larger than any android smartphone camera sensors, the only way you can get anything larger is to opt for a lumia or 808 which are not android, and the galaxy NX which is a freakin MILC besides Honami's camera will outperform both Galaxy S4 Zoom and Galaxy Camera with their crappy optics. I am yet to see a decent image coming from a Samsung lens equipped digital camera tbh,

Well, is this sign of something big coming?

Okay folks, notification light placement is awesome that's make my day.
Trade off, for such bezel and name scheme which I don't get along the way.

It will be better than 90% of smartphone cameras. So I guess Honami is garbage because it's not beating the whole market?
A question for you, what's the overall better phone than Honami? |

i think that it's irrelevant to talk about xenon flash in a smartphones until companies will start to implement the next level of xenon flash in a year or two - sony won't sacrifice the thickness or make a bump in the back for it. to my knowledge the new xenon doesn't require to sacrifice in thickness. the z1 is thick enough. |

Im feeling so excited for the IFA
But I think I will skip Z1 for 2014 and get Z tab2 >>> Btw any confirmation about the stylus???Will it have the same tech in ZU?
zomg mentioned on another forum that it will not ship with the same tech as ZU for the sylus, will only have S800 added and larger battery and newer android, 4.3 and ship in Novemberish. Best to wait for official info from sony. |

For India, the official Z1 launch date is September 18th Same should hold true for most of Asia i.e. Week 3 of September.
So at least for Asia, announcement to availability within 2 weeks

@ ramu and razec are you actually the same person?
The notification light reminds me of the concepts drawn based on information about illuminated speakers.

Any news on US release date? For Asia/Hong Kong, do you know if it's the HSPA only version or they will also release the LTE version too? If the US is going to be months down the line, might just buy from HK instead if they also release the LTE version at the same time, unlike ZU. |

WOAH! Just saw the Sony ad for the Xperia Z1 and I'm SUPER excited.
PS: Somebody seriously needs to talk to Sony design team and smack the FUNK out of whomever keeps putting ugly flaps on their phones!! Ruins the design entirely. And yes IP58/67 can be done without putting covers on Micro-USB/HDMI connectors, and if removing MicroSD card capability give us options of USB-Go/Host and 32/64/128GB internal storage - its MUCH faster anywya.
