I'm sorry, but the K700 is already an old phone. NOW LISTEN HERE GUYS don't go all bananas on me here, because I love SE and if they don't screw up anything major, I'll still be buying SE the next couple of times....yes AND the K700, let's see it's due in friday.

BUT both these phones ARE better, on paper at least:

Nokia 7610

and

Siemens S65

They BOTH have better screen, each have a memory slot, they look more "expensive", look better built, have better features (yes I know the 7610 only has mono sound, so?).... they are just bette.

The K700 is a too SMALL AN UPGRADE from the T610/T630. The K700 is WHAT THE T610/T630 SHOULD HAVE BEEN. The other manufacturers noticed this and went a step further then SE.

Edit: found a smaller pic of S65

But surely isn't the 7610 what the 6600 should have been ??? (not much difference between the two but the difference between the t610 - k700 is quite a bit).

thats ok, we always get someone saying that a new phone just out is already old so this is nothing new.

I do agree that the K700 is what the T630/T610 should have been (and already said as much in a PM to someone just today) but pehaps were too young to become this advanced in a small phone so quickly, I dunno.

Siemens, well I have played with a few siemens and found their menu system to be awful, but I haven't tried this specific model so cannot comment.

I'm not a nokia basher at all but I just couldn't live with the style of that 7610

I do think some of this has been covered in this thread in the early pages so a quick review there might be worthwhile before rehashing the same old stuff

in the meantime do please allow the enthusiasts a moment of time with their new phone before declaring it as old

Siemens, have HORRIBLE menus, no THEY ARE WORSE. But if they don't get this one right, they will forever be a miniscule mobilephone supplier. They have to get it right, thats why I think they will.....

I'm a SE Fan hehehe, my friends even poke fun at me because of this. But my reasoning is as follows:

1. The T68 (T68i) was something COMPLETELY new, revolutionising the industry

2. Then came the T610 which is only a bit better (larger screen and camera, but basically THE SAME PHONE.

3. Then came the T630, which is only what the T610 SHOULD have been. It was one of the first with a camera, I'll give them that, BUT...

4. Now there's the K700, which only have what the T610/T630 should have had, BIGGER MEMORY and better camera (VGA IS NOT THAT GREAT). The K700 has been upgraded with A LOT OF WHAT ESATO USERS COMPLAINED ABOUT in with their T610...

5. The K700 don't have a memory expansion slot, this is a bad, VERY BAD thing. Because the others (Nokia, Siemens bla bla) can/WILL use this when marketing THEIR phones.

Conclusion:

1. The other manufactures have done to SE what SE did to them with the T68. Jumped over a model and introduced something NEW. Now SE is stuck with a "new" phone that lacks what the other manufacturers are introducing.

2. THIS will reslult in SE releasing a Version 2.0 of the K700 not long after Version 1.0 , reducing the desirabillity of their Version 1.0...which will reduce sales of Version 1.0

3. Oh, BTW I have ordered the K700 for my self....

It's a shame, but I think SE have screwed a bit up here...

Now that has to be the single greatest thing that SE has included in a phone to date! its so useful! i love it and now more than ever want a k700!

on the 7610 and s65 topic, the only reason i wouldn't buy either of these two is simple, there menu structure and GUI is shocking in my opinion.

Everytime that Sonyericsson release a phone, we have such comments that SE will be beaten but they are still here and have allways good results with the phones

Anyone who says the K700 is old is delluded. I certainly dont think its old. It might not have expandable memory, or the flashy Symbian interface, or stereo speakers.. but that doesnt make it old at all, its how SE have designed it. If they put in stereo speakers, a higher resolution camera and a duo slot the price would go through the roof.

I'd rather have a K700 over a S65, 7610 or E398 any day because of its style, features and usablility. If i wanted a smartphone with pretty much everything the S65 and 7610 has, id buy a P900 (again).

The K700's rivals are phones like the V600, phones aimed at the youth market who want a phone with lots of features but dont want the size, weight and price of smartphones. They want a phone thats good at what its meant for, and the K700 certainly is that.

You cant compare the 7610 to the K700, of course its camera will be of better quality - it doesnt make it the better phone for everyone. You wouldnt compare a GX30 to a K700 would you ? the K700 is miles ahead of its Sharp rival, except for the camera resolution.

Does the K700 have a service menu, like the T68/T610 etc etc.? i.e. the one you get to by pressing >*<<*<* ?

@caff - it looks like the clock on the standby screen of the K700 is a lot clearer than on phones like the T610 - is that just the picture or is it a lot clearer to see? It looks from the picture like the clock would look like if the phone had a monochrome screen - i.e. a grey background with black figures. Have I got that right?
