Congratulations on your purchase, smclion102 and thanks for the pics, randomuser .

My SI-number is in the list, but nothing to see on Update Center yet. Anyway, I'll update with the PC Companion, I'll try it later today, we'll see...

Flashed my UK S to swiss via flashtool. A lot easier than Ithought. Really nice update, everything is super smooth and for me this really is a big update - the whole interface is much more polished.

Not sure about battery life yet, seems on par with Gb. Few initial annoyances; pattern unlock now won't let you see sms preview and I can't find the emoticons in the keyboard.

Cgrime browser is immense!

Okay so let's start with Xperia S ICS benchmarks.
Starting with Futuremark Peacekeeper HTML5 benchmark test. As you can see, Xperia S beats all except One S and the GS3. Once we get an OC kernel XS can easily score higher than HTC One S in this benchmark.
On Gingerbread XS scored around 310 stock ! So a huge difference after ICS

Next let's take a look at Antutu. Antutu score on ICS as you can see is 6700+. On GB average Antutu scores was 6500. So a slight improvement here.

Nenamark 2 is for some reason showing a worse score on ICS. On Gingerbread XS scored 37.5 fps but now 37.1 ( Not a difference at all almost but still ! )

Browsermark score is also a nice improvement from Gingerbread. 75000 vs 97000 on ICS. The browser itself is very smooth now, scrolling is butter smooth.

Vellamo shows the biggest improvement. On GB XS scored around 1240, with ICS there is almost a whopping 400 points increase to 1650. Matches the One X Vellamo score.

For some reason I was unable to run Sunspider Javascript benchmark on the stock browser. Got a driver not found error. But you can see the score from Vellamo test. 1700 is a pretty good score, on par with the some of the fastest devices currently. On Gingerbread the score was ~2400 ish.

Now last but not the least Quadrant. It shows a decent increase as well from (best) 3250 on Gingerbread to 3400 almost on ICS. Decent increase.

Some random screenshots

ICS Observations

* On the whole ICS is pretty fluid but sometimes it feels a second or two slower than Gingerbread, especially Settings.
* Battery Life seems to be better. Will be posting battery graphs in a day or two.
* Albums app is pretty smooth even with more than 1000 photos. Seems almost as fast and smooth as on GX.
* Films app is really nice and I love the whole idea. Very cool looking as well !!
* For some reason with ICS screen seems brighter.
* Face unlock, at least to me seems very convenient.
* Google chrome works great. Super smooth !
* Walkman app is more or less the same as semc music. The visualizations are really cool though. And also sound is now slightly louder and better, both through earphones as well as speaker.
* The keyboard is much better now ! Plus lot more new options to customize it. Feels great typing on it now, in portrait mode its MUCH better than 2.3 keyboard.
* The emoticons button in the keyboard is hidden by default now.
* New live wallpapers !!
* Camera UI is unchanged from Gingerbread.
* The three touch buttons are not as sensitive now as they were after the .76 GB update. Hope Sony releases an update to fix this soon.
* WIFI reception is improved
* Phone heats up a little bit more on ICS compared to GB. Around 2-4 degrees higher while performing similar tasks.
Nothing alarming but still hope its fixed.
* Free RAM is much less now. Hard to get more than 300mb free RAM now. Most of the times it hovers around 200-250mb mark.

Thanks!

The free RAM sounds cr..p though - with 200MB you'll probably get this fcuking homescreen reloads with multitasking
just like Arc..... 200MB seems too little to multitask browser and facebook, I think. Sh..t!!!!!!!!!!!!

From Xda:

"RAM is fine. It's just some background services that use a lot of RAM but they can be cleared when the RAM is needed."
