funny thing is i updated my phone via wotanserver and my animation characters were changed to refined versions of the characters on older phones.
i updated a friend's phone via SEUS and the animation characters are still those little monsters which i don't really like. hmmm...

Also noted that in Applications and Games folder a '0 kb file size' is shown instead of the actual size. Though you have say, 10 apps and games of 5 MB, the memory status remains showing 0 kb, 0 file. Just a minor miss, not the end of the world. |

Hi senninha,
I wonder if by some small chance that the animated sms characters are stored in the EROM, which isn't getting updated by SEUS? (probably not the case but just trying to think of a solution!?)
********************************************
On a different subject,
Would it be possible to use someone's account to log into Wotan, update the EROM then use SEUS to update the firmware for free?
From what people have said already on here I fancy trying the latest EROM

thats what i thought, so i debranded my o2uk k800 with the same firmware but the new erom, however seus is still saying that it has no firmware updates available. so i dont know whether its just there is no firmware available for the north east of the uk or with updating the erom it thinks that the firmware must already be up-to-date. |

I still haven't got a FOTA update in my area, but, is this because i possibly have an O2 'branded' handset? I only ask because my phone is meant to be unbranded on o2 contract, but 'o2 home' is the icon name of the top left menu option. Does this mean that my phone is branded?
If that's the case, does this mean that i may have options that are disabled on my handset, and therefore need to debrand my phone to get the full function back (and then update the standard FOTA f/w)?
Thanks in advance.
****edit***
It was a completely unbranded box (completely sealed) that my phone came in....

no, the animated characters would most definitely be in the firmware itself. EROM is just like a PC's BIOS. i just wonder why the characters were released thru wotan but not SEUS. it was definitely worth the 1 euro for me tho! |

I can imagine as the original k800i ones are ugly
guess I'll have to wait for the SEUS to get the UK update in my area then I'll post and let you know if the same thing happens on mine as your firends.
I can understand SE delaying the updates for different regions to maintain bandwith, with so many people wanting to update all at once it must be a huge load on their servers
Hope this helps! Cheers, Dcuk |

How exactly do SE know who is where (besides country) when using SEUS? |

i imagine that since its an o2 contract and i'm guessing you havent flashed your phone with generic firmware (so that the top left icon on the main menu is a "play now" green arrow) then you will be awaiting an o2 specific release of the new firmware, which is yet to be available.
someone mentioned a couple of pages ago that they were able to update their phone in the uk, is this true, has anyone in the uk been sucessful through seus?? (on any generic/specific firmwares)
just tried my generic uk EU2 again and theres still none available |

I think the O2 firmware is very close to generic - after changing the wallpaper then the only remaining piece of branding is the O2 logo in the menu (a vast improvement compared to Orange!) - it also mentions 'generic' within my SW info...
R1CB001
prgCXC1250210_GENERIC_WI R1CB001
CDA102511/41 R11A
EUROPE_2
So hopefully the generic and O2 versions should be pretty much out at the same time.
I remember someone posting that they'd managed to update in the UK but I wasn't sure if this was with a UK f/w phone or not - certainly all the other posters don't seem to be having any luck with UK handsets. |

it does indeed say generic however your cda says otherwise, if you look at the bottom of the first post in this topic you'll see that CDA102511/41 is an o2 phone, uk unbranded ends with a 2.
the o2 "branding" is good in that there is very little, i do approve of this compared to other phone companies.
i'm glad im not alone in not being able to recieve updates. i look forward to trying in a weeks time or so.

Hi, my phone is an australian one. Which was debranded on Wotan. I would suggest others have 2 look at their R1ED001 details. U 2 may have an old camera version... |

| Yes I'd seen that - couldn't quite understand why the generic bit was in there given that it isn't quite. As you say though - as close to unbranded as can be hoped (and it was a discounted 'refurbished' model though OSPS - very good deal in the end )
