Hi there!
Just bought a Vaio laptop with Vista Home Premium on it and I'm unable to find the Taskbar icon that tells me how much battery power is remaining. I've been to the Control Panel and Taskbar settings and found the Power icon greyed out... how do I change that?
Thanks in advance,
carkitter

right click taskbar>properties>notification area >check power
I've done that but the Power option is greyed out and unable to be checked. What else do I check to make that option available? |

Found the answer on a Microsoft forum:
From the Device Manager > Batteries > uninstall the driver for the Battery, Restart. Although the icon didn't reappear immediately, it did appear a few minutes later and has remained in place since. This issue is common among HP and Vaio owners apparently.

My Pc seems to lose its wieless connection when I visit certain sites (non dodgy). Facebook and The sun dream team website are 2 common ones.
Is there any specific reason for this.
I am using a belkin wireless G router (cable)
Thanks

i have the same problem, although with me its different sites, 1 is our local newspapers site and the other is a bittorrent site, i just get that yellow triangle and have to restart.
Im using a netgear router hat Sky gave me.
Im assuming that since we have different routers and it happens on different sites tat its gonna be a software issue. Im running crappy Vista HP, u? |

Believe it or not, I have a Belkin Wireless G Router and it just disconnects every now and then and reconnects. It's about 5 seconds, lol

HeHe!
The Hard Way:
- Go into your router admin panel and force the router to use wireless G only.
- While you're in there; change the wireless channel from 'Automatic' to a random number of your choice.
- Enable Protected Mode.
- Prop the router up on it's side somehow, if it's not already. I'm not joking, they get too hot and stop working!
And, in the highly likely event that none of those work,
Quick & easy solution:
Buy a different router and use that instead.

Before I start messing around with settings, will that work with the Netgear Sky routers as well?
While we are on the subject, are routers best being kept on 24/7 or turned off when not in use? There is a bit of a discussion on another forum about this. |

There are similar settings on netgear routers, so changing them has got to be worth a go if you're having trouble
You can always return all settings to default by switching the router off and pressing in the master reset switch for 10 seconds if it all goes pear shaped.
Updating the router's firmware is an option too, if a newer version is available.
Routers are designed to be left on 24 hours a day as far as I know. Mine only ever gets switched off when I reboot it anyway!
