Alright, When I plug in and that pops up I install. But at the same time the phone is turning on so I don't know if that is causing a problem. Then Unplug and turn off and hold c again? I'll see what happens. |

To get everything working I had to go to Sony Ericsson Belguim Site where you can download the Sony Ericsson Update USB driver from the K750i support page. Note this USB driver is completely different from the USB drivers for the K750i, this one will enable your PC to recognise the internal memory (flash) of the phone so that it can apply the update. It is clearly labelled as a USB Update Driver on the belguim site.
I had to go through the process on the sony site a couple of times, the 1st time I downloaded the update software, the second time I did exactly the same thing but because I had downloaded the software the first time it then loaded the update program (a java program) which you then follow the instructions.
You only need to hold the C button until the installation progress bar starts then you can let go, it takes a while to install (about 10 mins or less) If nothing happens then you need to install the flash drivers properly as it is likely that your PC is not recognising the flash drive inside the phone (note: the flash drive is not the same as your memory stick) |

typerlover and others who are still in diffs,
FIRST TRY:
Pop in your K750i software disk and run it. When you get to the options screen - choose to "remove" pc suite.
Once this is done, restart your pc.
Do not bother reinstalling pc suite at this stage, but do ensure you download the usb driver mentioned on this thread a couple of pages ago. It's zipped, so make sure you extract it to somewhere you'll remember.
Now try again to plug in your phone (switched off and holding down "c"). Hopefully you'll now get the "new hardware" dialogue. Navigate to the USB driver and that should do the trick.
IF THAT FAILS:
If that didn't work, go to device manager on your pc (right-click "my computer"; go to "hardware", then "device manager")
With device manager open, plug in the phone again (switched off, holding "c") and under "USB" you should see a "flash" device appear. It may only appear briefly. When it does appear, quickly right-click on it, go to properties; then "driver"; then "update driver"; and choose the driver mentioned above). |

I have installed the USB driver for the update. Can someone tell me when exactly I should hold the 'C' button? I held the 'C' for installing the USB driver, but it doesnt work for the update. |

Ok we all seem to be jumping very fast ahead here, so all please slow down a little.
First of all, as previous said, it doesnt matter where you go for your update on line, If its France, Norway or UK. All the servers have the main K750i firmwares on, so if you bought your phone in Spain, Use it in Honkong you can still update with the UK site.

Next question. Orange icons are removed. I beleive that a few people sent the Phones back regarding the icons and this is why they have been removed. That doesnt mean they wont return in a later firmware update. Orange do listen to customer.
Voda and o2 icons are not removed. Voda use there Voda live icons on every phone no matter what. 02 customers have only generic icons just the o2 internet one is different.
To update you must follow the online guide. First of all, make sure you phone is charged. Then after a while you get a screen saying, initaltilise your phone. This stops the phone booting when you press C and insert the cable. This only works once tho, so if you havnt installed your corerect update usb drivers, you have to start from the begining again.
The start to finish take 15 mins on my machine.
Hope this helps

Turn the phone off for 20seconds and then hold the C button whilst inserting the data cable. hold until it starts to update (not too long) |

I did that, but no update started. I tried going into the SE website to start the update & it says my operator does not support it. My phone is unbranded though. |

All done with no problems on a sim free K750i, seems faster thru menu icons , sound in ringtone is still different to that of the media player quality, may be louder but im not 100% sure?
I'll try camera out in a min to see if any better in low light conditions.

Am I right in thinking practically all the benchmarks are slower?
I'm also sad to report that the flaky bluetooth is still flaky. My HBH-300 still does not play nicely with the phone. I guess the priority was to fix the standby freeze..

Update Service doesn't work with a Mac, unfortunately. I had to use my parents' Windows pc to do it.

@ Flatonthenet
I read your previous post on how to install the USB Driver. I installed the driver successfully, yet the update does not work. Any thoughts or ideas on what I should do after the driver is installed, please? |
