Hello all...
As I understand it, you can't use 3G services without a 3G sim card.
A K750 therefore won't benefit from a 3G sim card except for the extra memory. A sim2 enables access to the VF 2G and 2.5G services.
I've given up on Internet via VF GPRS and gone back to a landline and Xtra Broadband (3.5 Mb/s) connection. Vodafone just couldn't bill the Data correctly and despite what they said on Campbell Live tonight, their Data Policy can't cope with Residential Internet users.
Also, did you guys know:
* SonyNZ is a 027 Customer and uses Nokia phones?
* SonyNZ doesn't think SE phones are any good?
* SonyNZ are not releasing any more new SE phones in the NZ market?
* Vodafone stores have only runout stocks of V800's left?

The sim card doesn't matter at all CK, I have mine in a 3g phone, with no issue of using 3g services. (This is a Sim1, the old white pre pay sim card, god knows how many years old)
It's a good thing then that SonyNZ and Sony Ericsson are seperate W900 and other models will definately be coming out, the hold up is with vodafone, so if you were talking with someone at Sony they got their facts pretty wrong.
I'd imagine V800's are being ramped down to make way for the W900's |

W900 is a replacement for the S700 is it not? Prices are similar, both are swivel phones.
V800 has no successor as far as I'm aware.
Lost my beloved K700i last week, just picked up a V800this weekend.

Same form factor as the S700i yes, but ideally mroe of a replacement for the V800 as well. Really don't like the V800 personally :/

W950 with 4GB would be ideal, but I won' t hold my breath on NZ availability.
W900i is cool but too expensive for me. Anyone seen one at a VF outlet?
W800i is nearly impossible to find now, likewise the K750i, K600i, Z520.
V800 is the only SE phone that VF stockists still have.
April issue of MyMobile magazine no longer has V800 listed in the buyers guide. Is SE disappearing in a sea of Nokia and Motorola 3G handsets?
Edit: www. .co.nz lists W550/W800/W810/W900 all unavailable.
Parallel Importers still stock some SE phone's but mostly 2.5G models.
Loving the MP3 player and MSDP facility. Miss having a radio though.
First Clam I've ever had. A very high quality 'special' feeling phone.
Not so upset at losing the K7 now...

W810 and K510 won't be coming to NZ. (Confirmed by - vodafone didn't want to take up the phones) W550 never came out officially here either, so thats why it's not listed.
Hmm I'm still seeing alot of Z520s around, lot of people using them too.
W900 still isn't out so no, you won't see one According to it's in testing with Vodafone atm but they're the ones dragging heels. Surprising since telecom has had a 1 gig phone for a while and their focus is 3G, you'd think vodafone would hurry up and do whatever it is they need to.
Lent my K7 to a friend, now as liquid damage kinda gutted personally

.co.nz features the Walkman phones on it's homepage - specifically W550, W800i, W810i, W900. All are listed as unavailable so what's the point of making such a bit deal about them? Obviously they just copy the info from other regions that do actually get a decent range of official phones.
At least will live on at PI. I see they've taken to stocking HCB-700 for $299. Gotta get me one of those.

Think you'll find you can get it for about that mark in the proer retail storeslike first mobile too.. HCB-700 has come down alot, i'm considering one as well, lovely pice of kit!
Uh you are looking at the NZ site of sonyericsson.com right? because thats the only official one as far as phones out here go. Anythign else would either be a mis written sony page or a PI trying it on. Or a web hijacker trying to make money. |

Ahh okies, wierd, though its pretty obviously a generic flash anim since the white 900 isn't coming out here either. (Or the 810)

W900i, W810i, W800i, W550i, all available at PI -check thier website +Z530i too.
Price on W810i is $999
I hate the whole concept of parallel imported products but it's hard to argue when and VFNZ won't bring the products in or delay them by months. Is a VFUK or VFAUS W900i really that different to one on VFNZ?
I seriously doubt it.

No Hardware differences, but the vodafone software is customised for each country. Sigh official word on the W900i is that it won't be released here because of the amoutn of time it's taken with Vodafone and would be delayed even longer.
I wish Telstra Clear would get some balls and mass order non VFlive units, but aparently Vodafone also have to approve the phones that go on their network for dealers to recieve rebates too.
I swear the phone industry is like the mafia lol

So what products are VF retailers left with then?
K700i, V600i and K750i are ancient history, W800i is in run out as is V800.
Theres minimal stock in the shops, DSE and Noel Leeming have V800 at reduced prices to quit thier stocks.
A Vodafone rep told me VF is providing incentives for sales of Motorola phones...
I'm afraid the writings on the wall.
Pretty short-sighted as far as I'm concerned. Apparently Vodafone International want to be a leading supplier of music downloads and Sony are a primary partner in this. I guess VFNZ don't read the memo's from overseas. Or Esato news...
Of course Sony aren't the only ones to pull out of NZ and supply Nokia's to thier staff. PhillipsNZ did the same around 2000/2001. I've installed Nokia CK126's in cars at PhillipsNZ head office. I heard it first hand.

Sometime ago, a customer who was having firmware problems with a large number of Nokia 6310i's from VF, expressed frustration that NZ doesn't have a Industry Ombudsman like in Oz. I think a little independent commonsense applied the the CDMA/GSM monopolies in this country would go a long way.

You know what CK, I don't disagree with that at all. |
