I bought Vodafone k700i (contract was cheap); as if anyone would buy a vodafone mobile for its Live Software built in! Was going to send it back after hearing of Vodafone bespoke rubbish that stops functionality of phone (mp3 ringtones, mp3 alarm tone) besides the Vodafone Live shortcuts all over the phone software.
Used Total server 1.30 and T28 cable from http://www.faceoffmobiles.com and debranded phone with no trouble. The R2AA003 seems fine to me. Address book search same as Nokia I had in that you press numbered key to jump contact in list beginning with corresponding letter.

Stick with r2l. The r2a firmware have an huge bug. I flashed my k700i to r2a and had then problems with my dss-25 and FMA(float mobile). The phone can't connect to any programs. After downgrading to r2l it works all again. The r2a firmware is removed from the Emma II server due its communication bug. They release in week 43 another firmware. |

yes it is down for more than 24 hours... P900 update is working... so... we can just guess and hope for the best... maybe they aree implementing features that will try to screw unofficial solutions... just a guess.

I dont like this R2AA firmware its slower than the R2A firmware esp in gallery. Furthermore...after it has been upgraded. For some reason when i went into text and tried to access the phonebook the contacts had dissappeared! Had to delete the phonebook and restore from sim card! Can't turn off the shutter sound except by ringing someone (Which i found random!) The lights dim quicker like the other firmware which is annoying. However the keypad lights fading looks cool and phonebook search function much more user friendly. I wouldn upgrade to this version if you already got R2L its not worth the hassle. Testing the battery life. At the moment lasted two days same as the previous firmware..but then again i been playing with it |

I have the R2AA revision on my k700i and have noticed that I am unable to add or delete items from the preferred networks screen.
I'm not sure if this is a problem with my phone or just with the new firmware because I never tested this before the firmware update.
Can someone with R2AA check? |

Ok.. I have read all the posts in this thread and others related to R2AA.
I had flashed my phone today to R2AA from R2L today morning and it did not take me long to realise that R2AA has some bugs which could be more serious than the previous firmware releases.
1. some mp3 ringtones become protected (corrupted) and cannot be deleted. In addition, the file size becomes 0 kb. 2 of my ringtones were affected like this.
2. In the "More" link where there is an option for turning infrared on for 10 minutes, infrared is on for unlimited duration. Mine went on for more than 30 minutes till i switched IR off.
3. File Manager in Sony Ericsson PC suite is not compatible with Release R2AA. it just refuses to detect the phone. I had to rely on free file managers like fma.
4. the message tone keeps beeping at times (intervals of 6 hours) without any reason.
5. the call response is >1 second irrespective of presence of picture or not.
SO stick on to R2L.
ok.. i am back from the se service centre and they flashed my k700 back to R2L.
i still cannot delete the corrupted ringtones (says that it is protected or pre-defined) after switching over to R2L. However, the rest of the problems have vanished.

@ scorpio79
I guess they are the reasons SE removed R2AA. Should just wait for the next update which was pencilled for this week apparently!
=====I HATE THE K700i BROWSER! I need to use google on the move but can't because of that damn browser! Maybe SE will pay for WebViewer for me?===== |

I have had a nightmare with my O2 Branded (will never do again) phone.. i tried to get the R2A001 updated at an SE centre (Brighton, UK) and that failed - flashing white screen on start up. then sent it away to O2 for two weeks - would have been beter just chucking it in a drawer or something as it came back as useles as before. SE online upgrade won't touch it - so went for Multiserver (tx to the posts) - Perfect...perfect..their new 1.30 downloads and installs everything - takes quite a while as all I have is a serial T28 link but so what!! - the phone is now 100% brilliant! - all for £8!! lets see how long the battery lasts! |
