Just phoned up the CPW my gf and I got our T610s from last week. They've confirmed the fault but have very few "safe" chargers. They're expecting stock in next week. This is the word from the Sunningdale store in Surrey. I'm off to the Farnborough store (nr where I live) to pick up their last 2 chargers!

I asked what the fault was. The girl said "They blow up"..... mmmmmm subtle!

Have received a text message this morning from Vodafone asking me not to use my t610 charger for safety reasons, and to call them to arrange a replacement. Well done to Voda for letting me know!

just checked my two chargers (can't remember which is which), made in ST by morroco and the other is made by none other than :

DELTA made in Thailand :

Standard charger CST-13
BML 162 009/1 R1A TYPE4020077-BV
INPUT : 100-240VAC-150mA 50-60Hz
OUTUPUT :4.9V = 450mA

I think the ST one came with my mom's t600... i can't find my t68i one.. but we will be using the ST one... definately !

Thanks to Mutley boy for the link where this quote comes from. Mutley... I am copying because ppl on WAP cannot get to the link.

Quote:
Sony Ericsson has identified a possible fault with one of its UK 3-pin mobile phone chargers. There have been a limited number of incidents in the UK, where a pressure build-up in the charger has caused the top plastic part of the charger to break off, with the danger of hitting someone. If the charger does break apart, the electronics of the charger may be exposed thereby creating a risk of giving a person touching these parts an electric shock. In such circumstance, there could also be a risk of fire, if the charger is in proximity of flammable material.

The series of chargers which may malfunction is limited to the 3-pin UK charger made by Delta with identification number BML 162099/3 R1A. The identification number and "Made in Thailand by Delta" is printed on the socket-face of the charger (the side that faces the wall when plugged in).

Even though there have been only a few reported cases of malfunction, Sony Ericsson places very high importance upon product quality and safety and so, as a precautionary measure, it has decided to activate a recall process to have all potentially failing units returned.

The charger has been included with the following Sony Ericsson phone models: T68i, T300, T310, T610 and the Bluetooth handsfree accessories HBH-30 and HBH-65. It has also been sold separately as an accessory.

Consumers who identify having a 3-pin UK charger made by Delta with identification number BML 162099/3 R1A, should either visit their retailer for a replacement or call the Sony Ericsson customer care centre. Customers who have experienced problems with their chargers should stop using the charger, remove it from the socket and contact Sony Ericsson customer care centre. A free replacement will be despatched as soon as possible, together with a pre paid envelope for the user to return the charger to Sony Ericsson for inspection.

UK customers should contact: 08705 237 237 Monday to Friday between 9.00 am to 6.00pm and on Saturday between 9.00 am to 5.00pm. Please note that this customer care centre will not be fully operational until Monday 8th September.

Just got off the phone from orange upgrading one of my SIM cards, and had asked the girl at the call centre does she know about chargers being recalled. She says yes and asked for 1) PHONE MODEL (said T610, forgot to ask if anyone is interested about T68, sorry) 2) WHERE CHARGER WAS MADE (gave the thailand by delta one) and 3) The BATCH (BML 162 099/3 R1A) and she says yes you have one of the faulty ones, gives me the number for sony ericsson and sends me on my happy way.

Still, it hasn't blown up yet and she told me NOT to use it - spoilsport

PS I have never encountered any of these intermittent faults described by others here.

EDIT: sorry vlam u beat me with that post

Now, nevermind my charger is a two prong swiss one... but for precautions i will not use it, only the ST one...

The difference is the model number :

i have BML : 162 099/1

and UK has BML : 162 099/3

So it's the 3 at the end which is the difference...

I just got a text from my Service Provider (Vodaphone/Singlepoint) saying not to use my T610 Charger as there is a risk that it could blow up!

It went on to say give them a ring to arrange for a replacement to be sent out.
