I went into my local Carphone Warehouse (Greenford, London) yesterday and they said that the latest software version they had was R1A081!!! Anybody had an upgrade by CPW in London? |

No, but when I rang the CraPhone Warehouse, they said they could do a firmware upgrade but it would take upto FOURTEEN DAYS!!
I got it done at my local SE Service Centre in 20 mins! |

How do I find my local SE centre (London, UK)? I've always taken my phones to CPW for software upgrades. They told me that if I did need a software upgrade it would take 3 to 4 days, I though that was bad.

I just called a service-center here in Stockholm and they said 3-5 workdays (free if there still is warranty on it), but if you need it faster they will take 320 SEK as a service-fee, and then you will get it in 3 hours. So I guess I'll have to be without my darling for a few days then. |

The new update fixed the sound in MMS messages. Now if you get a voice message in the MMS you can her the voice message without putting the phone to your ear.

They'll be able to tell you where your nearest SE Service Centre is. |

From your earlier posts in this thread I notice you have an Orange T610 that you have had upgraded to R1L. Others have mentioned that R1L sped up the gif animation on the phone - is the same true for your phone? The default gif supplied on the Orange phone is painfully slow but looks like it would be quite good if it went at a decent speed. Thanks |

Can you use recorded sound as ringtones to now?
Lets hope SE implement a speakerphone function.

Well, I have a Sylvester-the-Cat as my screensaver gif (before the clock kicks in) and it does seem to animate a bit faster after the upgrade. Also, the swirly colour startup and shut-down animations are nice and fluid too. Can't really remember what they were like before the upgrade though!

When I flash the phone with face off mobiles (or other) can I in the future flash it again in a SE service point without getting again the vodafone icons? |

Thnks MattyB - the startup/shutdown animations aren't too bad with the old firmware but if the normal gif's are faster then I may get mine upgraded. I'll enquire at my local SE service centre as to how long the upgrade should take. Others seem to think only ~20 mins but I remember having to leave my t68m overnight with my local service centre when I got it flashed to the 'i' firmware - I guess it maybe just down to the individual service centre and how busy they are. |

There´s a BIG difference between how long it takes for the upgrade to complete and how long it takes the guy to get started doing it
I have upgraded my S55 twice (thanks Siemens for trusting users to upgrade at home) It takes around 15 minutes from pressing 'start' to phone rebooting.
I have been at servicepoint with friend who wanted his t68i upgraded, that took ½ hour (we could overhear a lot of chit chat from workshop, so i don´t think he treated it like an F1 mecanic
Guess the actual upgrade took some 15 -20 minutes.. |

It amazes me that some of you have to wait so long for software ugrades. In Greece, at any of the nearly 100 service points, the maximum that they let you wait is one hour. They even offer you a seat! My SE serviceman gets it done in 20 minutes and offers me espresso while I wait!!!
I love SE service!!! |
