The thing with this tall aspect ratio is that every .1 inch increase in diagonal is only 1mm increase in width.
And micromatrix could have existed but that doesn't mean it delivers good enough quality for today's standards |

Then SSS would not mass production if it was that bad. I highly doubt it is any crap as UDC.
Dont forget SSS has most advanced tech of image among all suppliers.
10 and 5 with 71mm , while 1 with 73mm would be great. |

If case render leaks are legit then 5 VI still has 21:9 ratio screen but the overall height of the device has scaled down by 5mm. |

that case does not have cam button cutout. I bet sony is also removing 54mm from 10 series to use 2x digital zoom as well. Dont be surprised if this happens. 😡 |

I can confirm that there will be no 4K and 21:9 aspect ratio every products in the first half of 2024. Atleast there is no punch hole Xperia 5 lineage is gone.
They are focusing more on AI and "midrange" consumer type. If you want flagship best of industry specs then run away while you can because its gonna hurts a lot |

Well there you go, we better grab 1V while its still available.
Sony was never good at midrange. Their midrange VAIO sucked, their midrange BRAVIAS suck, their midrange headphones suck, their midrange XPERIAs have sucked since forever. You only buy flagship Sony products. Hopefully there will be true 1V successor in second half of 2024.

So, instead of making phones better than 2023 to attract more clients, no " let's make worse to later complain revenue is going down". Sony needs to understand that only Apple gets away with making worse products than previous while making more money . Not even samsung has this luck. |

They did the same thing in 2016 going for more midrange

spektykles,
So how about the rumor of "3"? Is it going to replace 5? |

Let me rephrase the word choice here because i got some flaks about it
Sony is focusing more on AI and "mainstream" consumer segment.
About the drop of 4K&21:9, they said its for costs reason, as the old ones are custom-ordered only for Sony. By reducing the display size, they can use common off the self panels (like the Chinese), therefore cheaper, have better specs.

4K screen not coming back in 2025?
AI partnership with Google (Gemini) or Open AI (Chat GPT)?
AI (LLM) running locally on phone hardware will need extremely good hardware and at least 20 GB RAM memory:

Most likely they fell below display order quantity threshold and the price per unit skyrocketed, who knows. Or maybe those exmor Ts cost arm and a leg so they had to offset the bop somehow.
Again, if those case renders are true it seema 1VI will be about the same width as 1V but shorter which means it will have even less internal space so we could guess even dynamic vibration is gone 😁 if they keep the same bezels as on 1V then ratio could be 19:5 or if bezels are thinner it could be 20:9 |
