I actually find the battery more than acceptable. I have no problem lasting through the day with one charge. I have had both the G-Note and the One X, both of them i charged at least as often as the Xperia p, In real life usage, the batteries of todays smartphones dont differ that much in performance. At least thats my experience.
Anyhow, im very satisfied with the phone, long time ago I felt this pleased with a phone, and thats on gingerbread with ICS update waiting around the corner.

Well it seems Sony has got the power management well sorted. Cos my Xperia U also has a small battery yet battery is excellent. Latest review is GSM Arena

Not sure what settings GSMArena used, but Swedroid managed to get twice as much out of the battery compared to GMArena. Swedroid however noticed that it drains the battery lot when the network is used, so that may explain the big difference in the testst (e.g. GSMArena had the network enabled while Swedroid had it disabled).

However, I haven't encountered anyone so far with bad experience from the battery, so I think its good for what it is (on average neither better nor worse than anything else out there with normal use).

Yep, that's just Sony.
The best mobile phone brand died with Sony Ericsson's death. Shame on you Sony for killing it! And, of course, for ruining the Xperia brand...

Seriously,I ain't sure what Sony have done but the small battery lasts really well for just over a day which is enough for me. On standby the Xperia U barely drops 1% for hours.

@Arne Anka,

But watching in flight mode isnt really practicable on a daily basis unless your actually in a flight? Even engadget has similar result as gsmarena.

"In our video run-down test, the phone is only able to eke out just over four hours of playback, with brightness set at 50 percent and WiFi on, but not connected. We found ourselves limiting use of the phone during the day for fear it would run out before we got somewhere to charge it -- something it often did when we were using it outdoors at higher brightness settings."

http://www.engadget.com/2012/06/03/sony-xperia-p-review/

The 4 hours playback is pretty much in line with sony's own white paper. It has good standby battery life, but not so while in use.

@Bonovox,

Xperia U does have higher usage times as compared to P...

xperia P have 1050 cd/m2 white and sg2 have 362cd/m2 both at 100% brightness .

Which mean that it is only fair if the test is taking 40% brightness vs 100% sg2 brightness when playing video .

Apperently not.

http://www.sonymobile.com/glo[....]/accessories/xperia-p-tv-dock/

It has just changed name to Xperia P TV Dock and has a slightly different port configuration (less USB ports). Connection with mouse and keyboard now goes through BT instead of USB.

It's most certainly just Sony. Enjoy.

Yep, they decided to release a new "better" dock with HDMI port in favour of ditching the two USB ports... WHY SONY WHY?!? Probably because giving the end user everything he wants is WAY TOO MAINSTREAM??? Is it so f*ing hard to put two usb ports AND a HDMI port??? Or that way they'll break one their main rule - never give the user everything and always make him choose between two things he needs equally. Compromise, compromise, compromise... Sony, just put the end of this sh*t and start thinking rationally!!!
