@AbuBasim
While the first part of your theory #3 is sound, I'm not sure I agree with the second part since that assumes only those two companies actually makes image sensors. A quick google search will show that there are a ton of other sensor vendors like Avago, Aptina, Canon, Cypress, Kodak, MagnaChip, OmniVision, STMicroelectronics, Toshiba, etc. Another look at the number of module and image processor vendors and you'll realize that it could be just about any combination. |

indeed Abu, it's sad but maybe someday Sony will kick our asses again like many years ago with K750 and K800 I still believe they can do a lot better things than current imaging solutions in older C models

The last time I took a phone apart to find out what sensor it had, it was a destructive process. The type will usually be underneath so you have to remove the chip from the mainboard to see what's written on it.

What about video quality? Is it better, worse, or nearly the same as K850's video quality? |

I dont know what module c901 has, because there are only two Samsung 5mpix phones has xenon. It was G800 and G810 but it has 3x optical zoom and was pretty large. It is not presents sams module i think... |

this can be also combination of the elements from various vendors - sensor, lens, DSP, xenon

true, however Sony for Cyber-shots in phones developed series of modules with own sensor and own DSP. this time something has changed in hardware, just like that and that's great
