$5 a month would be amazing value for what we get, never mind $1. make it pay laffen.

I agree too,cus the actual info and help that we all get is free is'nt it,so 1$ or 1£ in UK a month is well worth it.
I spend at least 2 hours a day here including on my phone, what would we do without ESATO,got to be the best info site for mobiles.
Also stop putting pics on the site and just use hyperlinks.
If nobody wants it.. put it on eBay. |

if it is made into a pay site, all the users under 18 will not be able to access it.

Agree with $1 per month. With the huge library inside ESATO, no other forum can compare. |

Plus $45/day equates to about £1350/month.
So we need less than 15% of registered users to make it pay.
As for those under 18, hasn't mummy or daddy got a credit card?
How did you get the net access in the first place?
Got your own phone line have you?

if it was only a couple of bucks/month, it wouldn't be too much to pay up front. would help laffens cashflow as well. maybe under 18s could send money directly to laffen

This is not intended at being negative... I for one, would pay up to $5 a month for Esato.
BUT you must undertand that the logistics of a pay-per-view site are anything but straight forward. Quite apart from the mechanics of instigating changes to the initial set-up, you must put management processes in place to deal with incoming subscriptions, lapsed membership, direct debit etc...
You must have a budget for advertising for new members as otherwise all you are receiving money from is an ever dwindling pool of regulars. You must develop standards of performance and accept that there is now an expectation on you to deliver... unlike before.
In other words, you need a proper buiness model and time out to make it work. You must also accept, that like it or not, Esato as a fee paying site would have be a different entity to the one you enjoy now.
Its a solution, so I can't belittle it... but I much prefer a monthly raffle of a top class phone (donated by SE's PR department) as a way forward initially. |

... that said, I would be prepared to help Laffen, should you decide to go the membership way.
(-I own several companies: One of which specialises in advising companies on general strategy management; the other helps create affinity partnerships between non-competing organizations in unrelated sectors).

Putting pics on the forum via html tags does not take up any capacity.
