Post by thklinge : Agreed, it's annoying. It's the same with the phonebook but this is just down to the phone not beeing quick enough and not a direct bug.

I don't quite agree with that statement, the keyboard helper could be started in the background before the reply window becomes active. Alternatively, once the keyboard helper starts it could correct the first character of the message.

I think its more a matter of the order the components are started rather than the overall system.

This is not a problem with my P1i, maybe this is a problem that only appears for certain regions?

Indeed, without a doubt a wonderful piece of phone! Hardly any bugs and excellent performance. Congrats to all who dared buying it!

When I try to use the trackID service I get the following message “We’re sorry, but your device is not allowed to use this service” Does anyone has any idea why?

Thanks again... I am busy making my 3rd mail to SE already with feedback. I do have found some issues of my own also as a slow browser while opening really large webpages and fora....

But also other issues like the fact that I cannot save phone numbers under the "Other" field of the contact list. Irritating sometimes when you have more phones than the P1i with UIQ on it....

MR
I have a: Sony Ericsson P1i and Nokia N95

didn't want to start a new topic hence just a reply. i got the p1i last week and have found 2 disappointing bugs :-

a) the mac plug-in isn't available and i can't get the p1 to talk to the mac in any mode - file transfer or phone
b) music player - it's great that the P1 can read wma files now. however, the player does not allow classification by genre. it only allows classification by artist and album. for music hoarders, genre wise listening is a better option than cherry picking artists/albums/songs.

will appreciate any advice.

thx, Pjay

thanks - i did follow the iSync trail from google on to the SE page and landed up at 'Oh no! 404 - page not found'. SE seems to have removed the plug-in. Any other place to get it?

The P1 iSYnc plugin has been removed from SE's site due to a bug. No wording if or when a new version will be available.

ok...and this after all the sales assertions that this would be mac-compatible. mac doesn't even read this as an external drive. what could i be doing wroing? also, any advice on the music player. it is a neat good device, but these limitations are hugely irritating.

TrackID works perfectly, tried it just now. If anyone is having problems, check for internet connectivity. The only thing TrackID does is record a small clip then sending it to Gracenote who in turn identifies it. Which operator you have doesn't matter.

The multiple-sms deletion problem has gone away. I didn't do anything special, just restored my phonebook, set up calendar syncing and so forth. A bit later I tried deleting some new smses I'd recieved, turns out it worked fine. The problem is related to where the SMS is stored. The first ones I got was stored on the SIM-card (small sim-card on the envelope-icon for each message). Seems the phone cant delete multiple messages when stored on the SIM-card. The phone now stores all messages in internal memory, even though the SIM-card is empty, so I guess that's a small bug then.

Regarding closing a message and returning to the inbox: The phone DOES go back to the message you just opened, but only if you DONT scroll the side wheel. If you scroll it while the phone is closing the sms-message and opening the inbox you will end up at the newest message. It's annoying, I know, but at least it works as intended if you just leave the wheel alone.

Like someone else said, when the phone is charging the vibration is automatically disabled. It's been a feature since forever.

It seem to work with Leopard, but not with Tiger.

Dont know if this is bug or not, but my P1 seems to be always connected to the internet. Even after I set up the settings for GSM (CS) only I still have the little blue ball at the top of my screen indicating that my phone is using GPRS connection. Obviously there is no word about this in the manual.
And also I notice that there seems to be no way how to change the homepage in build-in Opera browser. Since I got it on O2 UK, the homepage is O2 Active.
Another thing is that sometimes when I lock the keypad and move with the jog dial, it`s asks me if I want change the default language back to english?!
Java apps are really slow and some of them dont even come up properly, for example Jimm (icq client) is after start up just blank screens....
