How can a serious company actually believe that consumers will buy the P1 ... Are we missing anything?
Yes. You are missing the fact that the P1 (and the iPhone for that matter) will be sold to masses because it looks nice, without any relation to features that count (to demanding power users like you). Mobile phones are 70% fashion (private estimation), and that's enough for the big ones to succeed.

seeing Lisa's name there reminds to thank CPS again for developing Swiss Manager for the 990. If it wasn't for that programme , the phone would have been totally unusable, especially with the early versions of the firmware.

umm...looking so far on whats being done regarding this issue...I think its not enough to deliver a tight blow to them.

Take it to the media, thats much better, kinda serves the purpose if SE was VERY LARGELY BAD MOUTHED using the media. Online forums are not producing enough pressure.

P990...I can't believe this piece of junk...I paid alot of money for this piece of crap.

Again: F**k you SE..

I think the damage is done on P990's (we that own one)... but we still can prevent those who are thinking on acquiring a P1.

After a T28, T68i, T630 and a M600, the P990i will be the last product I´ll ever buy from SonyEricsson.

They had good products, but the worst Customer Service I´ve seen. After recognizing that they underestimated UIQ 3.0 and the support required, their decision is to run away from the problems and deny their customers the support they request.

Well, now it´s me who runs away from their products.

When is the P1 out? I'm going to complain to Vodafone and tell them I expect the P1 as a replacement due to the P990i not being suitable for the needs I bought it for. I spend enough with them so will see what they say.

Hello people,

I've submitted this case to the BBC's consumer rights television programme, Watchdog. This will most probably be treated as very UK-centric by them, but any coverage is important. For anyone that has not seen this programme, it is a widely respected show looking into all manner of cases pertaining to consumer rights - and the attempted removal thereof! Over the years they have blown the lid on many a scam.

I put some links on there to the Engadget and Register story on this issue, and also a link to the developer announcement, for the sake of balance.

Fingers crossed.

Hi all,

I made this suggestion re Watchdog on page 8 of this thread and well done to coth for getting in touch but really it needs as many of you as possible to bombard them with the same story to insure that they pick the story up and feature it on the programme.

This really is an excellent way for those of you in the UK to really highlight the situation and get it into the public domain and will make SE accountable as they would either have to appear on the programme to justify their actions or release a statement that would be read out. This really would be a nightmare for them and their PR department and what they truly deserve so please all that can send an e- mail with links to the various threads on the Forums it may just force SE to rethink their actions and give you all what you deserve continued support and fixes for your devices.

Marc

Yes, it happened to me and it's a known "bug". Actually, it's not a bug, as there are some mechanism invoking that application when a 3 is used. Still, afterwards it takes my phone over 5 seconds to open the shortcuts menu, and another 3 to open the Messaging section which sucks. I don't have the time and the patience when using such a hi-tech piece of hardware...or so called high tech!
