I've cleaned up a little and given Esato a week off from a couple of regular antagonists that are causing threads to be locked

so please... do continue this discussion and hopefully now in a more mature manner. thanks

Just my 2cents.
I confirm Koto's opinion.
Even with some problems, could NOT imagine working on any other device than P990. (My history: P800 910 990). Don't imagine write email with normal keyboard. And have no touch screen for browsing and operating the phone. I work ALOT, and I almost don't use computer because of P990. It's enough to spend a week with heavy mailing and internet to understand that. So I accept some cons, having all the superb features. N95 is probably a very interesting proposition. Just not for my use.
Well, wealth of choice.

@Koto,

You misunderstood me i didnt accuse you of anything other then letting me understand better why some people see faults in some devices that others don't. I really was not having a dig at all and apologise if that is how it came across. Currently very heavy meds and pain are making it difficult to post well.

I only got my N95 back from being flashed at lunchtime and don't have my memory card yet so have only set up all my apps and settings not really started playing yet so to early to answer. But i should be starting a Blog of my N95 experience which will be no holds barred both good and bad. So far build quality and speed are excellent although i have noticed it's Ram is not as good as my N93 was and not close to my E61 either. As it is not replacing my E61 just taking over some of it's duties a lot will remain with the E61 and the info just synced to the N95 as lets face i am not going to start entering lots of Data on a N95 keyboard if i was going to use it as my only device i would get the SU-8W bluetooth keyboard. I am also not going to be using the GPS either as i believe my current set up is much better than the N95 could ever be.

Marc

Thanks for the reply, at the end we do understand each other. Too bad you don't want to use gps because I am particularly interested in that feature and would gladly read from you how it is implemented. But anyway it would be interested to read your further comments.
About iphone, we all know that it lacks third party software but as I could see it uses google office for viewing and editing office files. At least something although I don't know how good it is in practice.

last night i got my hands on an N95, and being a sonyericsson user for the past few years, and not being biased, I can say that the build quality of the N95 is not bad at all...i liked how it looked and how it performed. compared to my fiance's n80 it was a totally different phone

as for bugs and quirks I did not get to test the functionality fully as I only had a couple hours time. as for my friend who owns the phone, she said that battery wasn't that long but it was enough to to last her the day on normal use (which isn't bad IMO).

Unfortunately, with my line of work I would require, or rather prefer, a phone with a touch screen.

all in all the n95 isn't a bad phone to have. in fact it is very well built and very nice looking. if it had a touchscreen chances are that will be the phone i'm using now lol....

....so it still is boiling down to p990 or p1i or w960 (?) or is there any other phone I should consider?

Iphone, loks nice but with not much software for it I can't use it...

also, any suggestions if I would need teminal and ssh access to my servers and stuff like those which phone would you be recommending??

thanks again

The Apple iphone is a piece of crap. The Sony Ericsson W960i alone is better.

For me it's SCREEN SIZE SCREEEN SIZE SCREEN SIZE, providing the phone works & my P990 has been perfect from the day i bought it 8 months ago,

One handed texting (flip off always) no problem (why do so many people say the qwerty buttons are too small, i even have large hands ??)

Anyway iphone looks cool & it ends there.
N95 ? well not so reliable & all those silly slidy bits to fill the phone with dirt,

P1 is too small for me, i want biggest screen i can get & i'm gonna wait for a P990 replacement that has GPS, i'm sure that wont b long until then it's my trusty P990.

Can you back this up with some data other then a simple "off the cuff" remark?

Where do you want me to start? From the first reviews of the iphone - it's a piece of crap. You cant even use a .mp3 file as a ringtone, It will take snaps, but won't record video. How can Apple love YouTube as much as it does and not realize camera phone movies make up a sizeable chunk of the stuff you find on there?

No A2DP support either.

@tony ericsson
The least you could have done was to post a link to that review, because the ones I read praised it a lot.
Back to topic, I wouldn't go for the P1 for obvious reasons. The phone will cost nearly 600$ where as P990 is half the price with 99% similar specs. The small improvements in P1 doesn't justify the price increase.
iPhone looks extremely tempting, even more than N95. Honestly, i don't use MMS and its just a psychological negative effect people have when they hear it doesn't have MMS whereas they know perfectly well MMS is quite useless to say the least. I don't need 3G either as my country doesn't have it yet. I listen to music a lot and I'm sure it'll beat both the N95 and P1 in that department.
The only deciding factor here is the OS of iphone. I have my doubts about its application base which is a big factor for me. And i'd like to see messaging with its touch screen.

This is what you can expect from SE. Thank goodness, Nokia nor Apple operates this way.

Do you mind posting the "crap" reviews other your own? Every review to date has praised the phone/concept while noting it faults. The New York Times review was quite good and unbiased. Something you might want to consider when you write unfounded, and completely biased statements. Once again see what you get with SE: http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=150241.

Some much for your "crap" posts. Seems like your crap posts credibility erodes with each passing day towards the launch of the iPhone. Read on: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19444948/site/newsweek/

From the reviews of the iPhone there seems to be quite a bit of cherry picking going on. I mean this in terms highlighting the negative. For sure the iPhone has its flaws but I think many of them are based around the current market for which the iPhone will be sold. If the same iPhone were sold in Europe, it would be DOA. In my opinion it is not ready for the European market as these markets tend to be more mature and have a high degree if technologically proficient subscribers.

Can't wait till the 29th to see for real.
