I like the wasy the camera cover is at an opposite angle to the the phone so there is no chance of opening whilst in your pocket |

@brix i couldnt agree with you more. People want 2much from their handsets. Its a nice step up in the K serie which did originate as an imaging phone. Thats what they brought us in the new K800 series better cam.

K800/790 are supposed to support QCIF at 15fps video recording.

theres nothing wrong with qcif. Is it in mp4 or 3gp format? The nokia n70 records in 15fps and is brilliant. To be honst we dont need 30fps recording like the w900 and vieo at that rate will take up a lot of memory especially given the size of the 3.2mp pics. Otherwise SE would have been forced to give outa bigger card. |

My next phone WON’T be a K800. Looks cheap . Only improvement is the camera, 3.2MP but NO OPTICAL ZOOM! . No way am I going to upgrade to this. Don't know what SE is doing with their new phones, W950 was announced sometime back and it has all the functions but NO CAMERA ! and now they release the latest model of the so called "Camera phone" with pathetic video recoding capabilities and no optical zoom! |

This hurts to say but sony ericsson is going down big time, they have to come up with something better then this to keep up with the market |

Well, the QVGA resolution is a huge plus for mobile Internet surfers. Those in need of Edge and/or 3G will also apprecciate the upgraded version. And... That's THAT.
Pitiful video specs and no camera improvement whatsoever over the 750 quality except only in size make this a very dubious upgrade path for W800/K750 owners. If on top of that you add the ridiculously impertinent attempt to force on all of us a new, untested memory card format just to squeeze the most possible dough from our consumist pockets, and leave all our 1-2 GB MSDuo investments rotting, things start to look much worse.
AND as if that weren't enough... there's the camera cover that will SURELY get hooked on your pocket seam on the very first week and break, another step backwards from the 810 by going back to a joystick, no walkman, larger size and bulk, and just plain weirdness inits look compared to last year models like the 810 and 750, and SPECIALLY un-pretty compared to the K610!!!!!!!
This phone is a loser in my book, and I'm very sad for SE. Pissed off, actually, come to think of it. I was planning to upgrade again this year!!!

I completely agree with you, when it comes to people that actually have to PAY for their upgrades. For Orange Dominicana customers, upgrades are an extremely convenient (and almost FREE) yearly incentive to us contract clients... and one that will HATE to be forced to pass up for lack of a better aquipment option than that which I currently have!!! |

what are people more likely to go for this or the w810? Also is the video specs on this phone the same as the w800?
If any of you have owned a n70 you will know that the video is in mp4 format and also 15fps which ithink is brilliant. Im sure this phones desig cant be as bad is it seems. Its sure to be expensive though, i mean a 3.2mp camera phone is gonna be alot for a while. The sharp 903 has been out for ages and its still £175 with a £30 a month tarrif. |

As much as I appreciate more variety and the upgrade, I prefer the W810 look wise. I am yet to even get my K750, but the only way I'd consider the K790 is IF looked like the pictures I see of what it WOULD'VE looked like.

I find it quite strange that so many people seem to be so negative about the K790/K800. Sure there are some bad points, most notably:
- Memory - MS Micro. 512MB initially followed by 1GB by late Q2 is not all that great as we are used to 1 or 2GB in our phones. However, it is a much more sensible format for mobile phones to use due to it's reduced size. MS Duo has really had it's day for mobile phones - and has been around for quite a long time when you think about it (4 years?). Micro will be the format of choice for the next 4 years or so, and capacities will grow. We make sacrifices in capacity now, knowing that we get increased longevity of the format.
- Video - Same sort of recording quality that we have on the K750.
- Lack of 3D Hardware acceleration.
However, we have quite a few positives to offset these:
- Much better camera, especially for use in low lighting conditions due to the enhanced flash. The main problem with the K750's camera was it's lack of a decent flash.
- Much better screen. This is one of the most important things about the new phones as far as I am concerned.
- Updated featureset. Stuff like better camera controls, an improved alarm clock, updated Calendar, much improved photo organization, Walkman style media player (i.e. better than previous K series phones), better web browser etc.
- Driverless USB support. This is a great feature that I was expecting to be in the K750 when it first came out. Saves carrying around a memory stick

i'm definitely not feeling the allure brown color =).
otherwise, i still think it's a great upgrade from the k750, and I've been very happy going from t630 to k750 and i'm pretty sure i'll like the k790.
think i'll sell my k750 within a month or so to get ready =). |
