sony ericsson unveils W810 |

It seems pretty clear now that swapping our K750i cases with this baby won’t be entirely feasible, oh well!
Jumping back to dontknow's claim that:
"W810 got a lightsensor which will adjust screen and keypad lightning to save battery depending on how bright the eviroment is." and will "backup contacts to MS"
Hot damn!! Is anyone able to clarify/confirm this?
Looking at the design again, I think it's a shame that SE have removed the two-tone look seen in the K750 (Silver sides, black casing). Seemed to have a touch of class!
I fear that without an active shutter, there will be no efficient way of loading the camera, without unlocking the keypad and going through the menu?
Most certainly hanging out for the true K750i non-walkman update later this year. Anyone smell a 3mp camera? The MC532MA would arrive just in time for inclusion, particularly if the update is not expected until mid 2006?

Also - note a further reduction in battery life from previous models:
W810i
Talk time (up to) Standby time (up to)
8 hours 0 min 350 hours 0 min
K750i
Talk time (up to) Standby time (up to)
9 hours 0 min 400 hours 0 min
Blast!!

@jasond; man I've missed talk times like that for many years since I had the T39m!
I've finally come to my senses, only SE phones - the best - from now on, I think I'll not only get cases but doubles JUST in case. |

To all of you asking what's so different... remember not everybody is as technically savvy as the people in these forums. Most of my friends who own k750s only bought them because no one on their right minds would walk around with a horrible orange/white phone like the w800, but ALL of them ended up turning to me to convert their phones to w800 via davinci like I had done. Most people don't even know that's possible, or would even try even if they knew, no matter how much they longed for the W800 features. This is a MAJOR, INMENSE update over the full horror that is a W800, if you think the W800 sold well just wait till this baby comes out. |

it is an orange coloured mirror... coz theres no other mirror on the backpart or any other thing that would represent as a mirror.

I just feel weird when there's ppl start thinking of getting a W810 cover onto W800
take a look on the soft key/ D pad, walkman key arrangment....W800 only have 4 button in total next to the joystick.
W810 have 6......and W800 is using joystick...it is a switch in one piece....w810 d pad might be just some dome switch on PCB.....meaning even the PCB need to be swap if anyone is thinking of changing covers. |

but some ppl won't listen...they will try to cheat themselve
it is just so embarrasing when one day a w800 user with w810 housing being asked
" How come I cannot access the media player by pressing the walkman button on your W810?"

Just curious to know if it can be done thats all. I like the look of the W810, and if it could be done i would consider doing it if it wasnt too expensive. Plus the fact that every other person i see now has a W800 and it'd be nice to give mine a fresh new look!

I realise all of this. Im not under the impression i'll just be able to replace housing and then thats it. The W800 also has a total of 5 buttons surrounding the joystick.

basically it is impossible to get 100% same
but later you might found imitation from china for you
to swap the housing
but then not worth it as well coz you will always know it is not the real w810.
if you think handphone as an object to be shown when you are outside....changing the housing this way just make ppl give you a funny look instead of an impressive look. |

I'm just not diggin the W810's new buttons (the shape of the round softkey and new walkman shortcut). I think it makes the phone look awkward. Nonetheless, i'm liking the rest of the rest of the design (why does the black on the back look more black than the K750i?- it has a glossy tint dunt it?).
I suppose if the W810i had some more new different features from the W800i it would be that little bit more interesting...

@coo1K3n, have to agree with that, I was just looking at the pictures posted by giancito and thought that the 3 circular buttons looked a little odd.
