I just bought an Vodafone 802se from Greenhills. I want to upgrade its firmware to the latest version. When I looked at the default Bluetooth name, it was Z800. Is it possible that my phone is already a Z800? How do I check it?
I was thinking of upgrading the firmware to Z800i. Is it recommedable? What are the pros and cons?
I went to Sony Ericsson SM North EDSA asking if they could update the firmware of my phone. They refused when they saw it was a Vodafone. They said they did not support Vodafones. I also asked how much their Z800i is, it was a whopping P33,+++. I read that an 802se and a Z800i have the same hardware, what's the difference?

fluid: if people have successfully flashed 802se's with Z800 firmware, that leads me to believe they are 99% identical hardware-wise. No official SE service points here will take your phone- there's two ways (as ive learned just recently- and painfully, may i add..lol) [1] flash it yourself with DVT, TMS or other DIY clients, you need a DSS-25 (im quite sure the in-box Z800 USB cable works too) or [2] take it somewhere. greenhills comes to mind. but there's other shops too. theyre everywhere. lol |

Thanks kabukijep. Maybe I'll give it a shot.
I can't find my service menu on my 802se, where is it?

Z800
V800
if only i had more time (and money to throw away on experimental flashing, even phones to kill, lol) i'd really like to get into this whole phone software thing heheh
btw, anyone got word on releasing the next CCD cam (a true S700 successor)? I've compared the best S700 and K750 (CMOS cam sensor) shots side by side, those of S700's (EXIF data R3M008) tend to look better than the K750's (R1NA005) but then again that's just me |

you can get a DSS-25 (cradle) in ghills for P400 if you look around and haggle well. hahah. i got mine for P400
then again i dont suggest you do it yourself. ive wasted P700 (on top of the price of the cradle- 619 was nice enuff to give me some breathing room as well it wouldve been worse than that.. ) on DVT credits and messed up my phone in the process. is there something really wrong with the phone (in my case, the English T9 dictionary seems to have been corrupted by my texting frenzy-even a master reset didnt fix it, it actually took out the English writing language option)
what did our contact say? |

Our contact said I can have my firmware upgraded for only 500. Thanks again man.
What are the advantages of having a firmware upgraded? More features? Less bugs? And is it not advisable to upgrade if there is no bugs?

from the news just now, only available 3g units (for smart) are the N70,90,6680 and for SE w900 and k600i. What about the other 3g units like z1010 or z800??? Mayroon nga sa makati cinema square eh NEC 808y for just 9k. 3g ung unit with dual cameras. Palagay niyo peeps, magagamit natin yung ibang brands as long as it is 3g capable??? Mahal kase yung bokias at SE w900/k600 especially if you are just a prepaid user.
Hopefully by the end of the first quarter, full blast na ang 3g sa smart/globe nationwide.
Maiba usapan!!!
I am using a SEt300 upgraded already to latest sw r1g001 from r1b. One thing I have noticed with regards to checking gmail is when I go to m.gmail.com to check my emails, wala siya input indicator for username and password, meaning hindi mo mainput yung username and password. The same problem occured even before upgrade. Just to check if this is a network problem, i tried a low end gprs motorola c375 and it worked fine. Nandun yung box to input the username and the password and of course naka access ako ng gmail.
Any idea what's the cause of this or how to solve this problem??? Take note that this only occurs with gmail only. With yahoo mail, there is no problem. |
