Work was a breeze today, Hobbs. Spent an hour at a union meeting this afternoon, sipping Fanta Apple and reading ebooks, pretending to be very interested in a lot of gobbledegook which had no real bearing on work-related matters.
I'm not superstitious, merely mildly stitious.

Although I saw Muhammad-Oli's post this morning I couldn't reply because I was rushing off to a breakfast meeting.

What happened to the 3rd network that our friend from Zim was supposed to have launched in ENZED? Any word on when Telecom will ditch CDMA?

Like HOBBS I also support the Stormers but to say they're disappointing is an understatement. They always promise a breakthrough during the off season but halfway through the competition they have a collective brain explosion. All that said I might go to Newlands to watch them this Friday.

Welcome to the SA Mobile Discussion, Rishone.

@ Hobbster,

Boet, methinks you're worthy of my vote for African esato member of the year, when Whizkidd gets the 2008 awards underway in the months to come. The info, links, UIQ stuff and contributions in general to this thread warrant that.
I'll have a think about the P1i blog involvement though. Really not sure I can commit to another forum/blog at this stage..

Been painting the 3rd bedroom today. Getting goefed on the fumes. One more coat of Dulux 'Timeless' and that'll be that.
Will check in later again.

Hey Gucci.Didnt you say your touchscreen experience was on a Windows Mobile phone. My first encounter on a touchscreen was a PDA running Windows Mobile and I hated it.Have you played around on a UIQ3 device?

@HOBBS: I'm also watching the game but TBH I couldn't give a toss about either team...still dealing with Saturday's thrashing of the Gunners by Manure...I can't believe they were that awful.

PS: Seems like Liverpool want to take this game to the wire in second leg. Despite heaps of possession/chances they can't seem to put the ball between the sticks.

@HOBBS: Indeed some fat scouse lass is singing somewhere along the Merseyside. I take back everything I said in my earlier post. Indeed, that last goal was a masterclass.

Hobbs, i second your motion of welcome Howzit going, Muhummad and Rish? Good to see you guys here.

Muhummad, your mention of two networks reminds me of a similar time here a few years ago, when we had to choose between Vodacom and MTN. To think, back then one had to pay to listen to voicemail! We've certainly come quite a way since then.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys!

You are lucky you don't have to pay to listen to voicemail! We have to pay 30c which is more here than the standard cost of a text message (20c). NZ has a looong way to go! Vodafone has a bit of a monopoly here, so they can charge whatever they like. The government is starting to force their prices down though, so hopefully we'll see the effects of that soon!

Muhummud that would be the Stormers cause Im from Cape Town but usually half way through the tournament I switch alianses to The Bulls from Pretoria cause The Stormers are usually sitting somewhere at the bottom of the log by that stage with no hope in hell of making the play-offs.

The Stormers don't seem too bad. Unlucky to start the season off with a loss! Hopefully they'll find some good form this season and start winning some games! Good luck to you!

There has never really been a 3rd network, though Telstra has been around, but originally they just leached off Vodafone's network. Then they disappeared and came back to leach off Telecom's network. So they are hardly a 3rd network! Maybe that's what Zim was doing?

Ah, you've always got to support your favourite team! You're not bottom of the table yet!

Hobbs, plenty of ebooks to be had, mate Ipmart is currently one of the best sources for the latest releases.

Muhummad, you have my sympathies, that voicemail situation brings back painful memories, lol. In time i'm sure it'll change though. It's like the networks develop according to a set pattern, i.e. first fleece the populace, then phase in improvements like "free voicemail", etc. Their ripoffs are nearly as bad as the fly-by-night traditional doctors performing botched circumcisions.

@ M-O,
Fantastic ODI cricket game in your neck of the woods at the mo, between NZ and England. Some serious 'fireworks' from both teams!
Oh crap, and as I type this, Ryder is out...
