So my sis and swaer arrived in London on Friday. They'll be there for two weeks initially, sorting themselves out. They've taken up residency in one of the company's flats close to swaer's office, and are spending some time sightseeing. Had to laugh when she told me about the flat having heaters all over the place, even in the loo! I just can't picture that kinda weather...

@ JC,
Yeah, a Walkman version of the G900 would be cool indeed, particularly with those specs.
Honestly, it's got pretty much the specs that I'm after, just a pity it doesn't come armed with HSDPA. But I could happily live without it at this stage.
I'm very keen to see what touch-screen offerings The Dark Side comes up with later this year too...

@ Kryptik,
Tell 'em that those heaters are referred to as radiators.
They work so lekker. Yup, there's one in our bathroom too an' all. You can literally walk around the house kaal in Winter and not freeze the proverbials off, if one has got efficient central heating switched on.

Dam it mid-term is over, back to the traffic and school tomorrow! ah wel. . .
@ JC and Wanqa
Yah the G900 is a beaut.
@ all
Im not sure if i still want to upgrade this year, keep thinking what more do i need my N81 has everything i want jus gota get a 4GB or 8GB mem card for it and the new handsets announced aren't that different except N96 with the DVB-H and 16GB and it has also proven that a GPU is not necessary. Think i must wait til December after my Matric Vac to upgrade maybe N96 will even be cheaper by then. . . .???

@ Gucci,
Yeah I reckon it makes sense to hold onto the N81 until then. A lot will depend when the N96 hits the shelves. If it's available by late May/June, it's bound to be slightly more affordable by the end of the year.
I say slightly, 'cos the N95, for example, has held its value so well, much better than any other phone I care to think of.
The N96 is bound to follow suit.
But if Nokia release even higher spec models later this year, it could count in your favour, as demand will then shift towards this and perhaps less on the N96 come late December...

At this stage though, methinks that N96 is still gonna be pretty pricey for quite some time after its launch..

Hi M-O, and welcome to the SA thread.
You're the second Kiwi to visit us (after carkitter), and it's great having some more Southern Hemisphere esato members around here.

M-O, yeah I think it's safe to say that we all know you weren't in particular. You've become quite a prominent and valued member and contributor on esato and there's never been any deliberate malice from you directed at any member.
Having a bit of a joke at his style of posting etc was all in good humour; I even had a smile, but it's some of the others in there that have repeatedly knocked and derided him through the years, specifically creating threads calling for him to be banned etc.

I also don't want this to become an all-out pro-Jojo thread which may lead to further friction between various parties (and would be detrimental to this thread) as I do not pretend to know all the facts and therefore can only go by what I know to be true.

To that extent, I feel we have said what was needed to, from our perspective, and hopefully we'll leave it at that.

Totally off-topic, that V630i pic of yours, of the 'Doubtful Sound', is keeewwwl!
Wow, the natural beauty of that area looks stunning.

Hehe, always a few steps behind carkitter!

Thanks mate! Yeah now that you mention it, I do remember those threads calling for Jojo to be banned. As you stated, enough has been said in that regard, and I think Jojo's position at Esato is quite safe due to the respect of people like Masseur, so we will leave it at that.

Wow thanks for the compliment! It's funny though, that picture is actually doing worse in the Esato photo gallery top-list than one of my other photos of that area of New Zealand which has made it as high as number 4, and currently sits at about number 6! I wonder what people would have thought, had I entered that photo to the competition... If you ever get the chance to visit New Zealand, I really recommend Doubtful Sound. It seems that the further south you go in New Zealand, the better it gets!

Cheers!

...and colder too, I believe!

Yeah, just look how any other rugby team suffers when they get down to The House Of Pain in Dunedin...

How many networks are in EnZed? Vodafone seems to have a strong presence there too..

Haha oh yes. Due to the huge support from the University students down in Otago I believe. They'd rather go out and do something rather than freeze in their dingy student flats, so they all go watch the rugby and get drunk, etc. So theres always a very loud, supportive crowd in The House of Pain!

We have just two networks here in NZ, but just the one GSM network (Vodafone), the other (Telecom) is a CDMA network with terrible phones, etc. So people don't have much choice when they come here from other countries, you either go with Vodafone or buy a really bad Sanyo phone on CDMA.

I don't really know as I haven't experienced overseas networks, but apparently both our networks are quite behind too, in terms of customer service, pricing, coverage, etc.

Most of these G-series themes seem to have a strong feminine feel to them.Maybe its going to be marketed as a 'chick' phone.New Linkboy, going to check it out.

@ GUCCI Im skipping this upgrade in June.I'm going to do the same thing and just wait for a 8gb memory card to hit the market at a reasonable price and then get one and leave it at that. Will upgrade on my second contract due in a year from now.I've gotta step off the cell-phone treadmill sometime and keep a phone longer than I have in the past.P990 sufficient for me at this moment in time.Played on your 4th generation N81 and without that touchscreen I would be lost.I need my touchscreen.Just gotten so used to it.And lets not forget the price of these phones which is another deterent. With the advance of cellphone technology, phones are bordering on R9000-R10000 (at least the ones that I want).Thats like two not so hot laptops or one really nice laptop.Contracts of R800 a month with R2000 pay ins or R132 a month with R7000 pay ins.Somebody out there is getting stinking rich while we just fork out our pennies to make them richer.

Hobbs, i second your motion of welcome Howzit going, Muhummad and Rish? Good to see you guys here.

Muhummad, your mention of two networks reminds me of a similar time here a few years ago, when we had to choose between Vodacom and MTN. To think, back then one had to pay to listen to voicemail! We've certainly come quite a way since then.

Muhummud that would be the Stormers cause Im from Cape Town but usually half way through the tournament I switch alianses to The Bulls from Pretoria cause The Stormers are usually sitting somewhere at the bottom of the log by that stage with no hope in hell of making the play-offs.

Ok Wangs, got the new Linkboy. Will let you know what I think of it as soon as I give it a test drive.

Hey Kryps.Hope you not working to hard dude.
