i dont exactly know. that is what they told me.

i guess upgrade means changing your firmware to a newer version: R2B to R2D is upgrading.

in my case, the firmware is still R2D after they repaired it. i lost my messages in the phone memory though. however, phonebook contacts remained intact (along with their voice tags). all settings were intact, and the counters held the same values (except the joystick counter which reset to zero).

A really funny thing happened to my T39m. After upgrading the firmware (R4B008) at Smartnet during the EB, my phone would not sync with the Ericsson phone book and text message manager on my PC. I tried a master reset on the phone and all sorts of things (deleting my phone's profiles on the PC... etc.). After hours of frustration... I decided to delete everything (but I the exported my phone book contacts in a text file for back up - I wouldn't want to type all my contacts all over again) and performed a master reset again. I also decided to take out my sim and battery from the phone and left in dismantled for around an hour. Praying that a miracle would happen, I put the sim and battery back and attempted once again to sync. I imported my phone book contact file to the phone book and text message manager and crossed my fingers. GOD answered my prayers and now it’s able to sync again without any problems! Really weird noh? Too bad I have to set up my GPRS, profiles, and ring tones again. Hehehe! Anyone every experienced this?

@Ferrarista
Sad to say that the firmware upgrade/reset didn't cure my phone, it was diagnosed for replacement. I think mine was worse.... i cannot hear the one calling me and vice versa. Kaya nga i disposed of it na lang

@Pogie
Oist! wag mo naman ipangalandakan ang mga pinamili mo! Nagmumukha tuloy kaming mas mahirap sa daga... Pasensha na hanggang T68m lang ang kaya namin e hehehe
