this seems to vary by the phone?! cos I get the update anyway screen, while others do not get that option and they probably need to pay a visit to the SE center or send the phone in.

YES, there is! Just click on continue anyway: !

By the way, for some that say this would update some minor fixes, that's wrong! Because if you have previously updated, then the computer will use the FW that is ALREADY ON YOUR COMPUTER and will NOT DOWNLOAD any new or the same FW.

then u need to uninstall the SEUS, delete ALL the relevant folders, and install fresh version for the SEUS?! I guess that will work.
But how come some say there are updates, whereas the SESU says u have the latest? Is there a bug with the SEUS itself now?!?!?!? WOW. [addsig]

If the fw version is the same, then there are no updates... period!

I too am suspecting that although the firmware version is the same, there are minor changes that were made "secretly", although I am not sure if it is done via SEUS.

My experience is that I got my phone reflashed at the Service Centre and even though the firmware version remains the same, the phone is a lot more stable. I have been running the phone for weeks and it rebooted about 3 times to improve performance.

Of course, anyone possibility could be that SEUS is buggy and is not flashing the firmware properly. Could that be the reason why there are so many SEUS releases?

@kfchoong

when you do an update via SEUS, only the files that have changed are updated. when the service centre does it, they delete everything first then do a total reinstall of the firmware.

@senninha

Do you think that is the reason why my P990i is more stable after the upgrade by the Service Centre? Deleting all the files and starting afresh does sound better than updating the firmware only.

it could be if there was some file that was damaged or corrupted that SEUS did not touch.

If that is the case, wouldn't it be better for SEUS to remove everything just like what they are doing in the Service Centre? I don't think anyone would mind since we can always backup our data. But then again, I find that my backup if not very reliable. I have encountered a few times whereby not all my SMS are backup, haven't got the time to find out way

I just update my phone via SEUS but i reinstall everthing on the computer and flash it again with the same firmware(continue anyway) and my phone works great now no more self-restart. Why do you think they have an option to continue anyway if they did not update some of the firmware that is the same(R3B01)??

Isn't this interesting?! Another case of performance improvement after a reflash with the same version of firmware... What is the reason? Is it due to a re-initialize phone with fresh settings or are they changes made to the firmware?
