If it was my only machine I probably would but having a portable external will probably see me through to my next mac, I can also fill it up with files from the PC, and I can also carry 320GB of data with me when I don't need to take the iBook!

That said I may upgrade the HD in the future if a drive pops up for a reasonable price!

Hey guys I’ve a question; does MacBook support external DVD-ROMs / DVD writers through USB port from others company like Samsung, Liteon etc?

What program would i use to copy a DVD film to my hardrive? Obviously for back-up purposes.

Handbrake.
Rips and encodes.
Or, if you just want a rip, then Mac The Ripper is a good choice.

And no its not just buy the relevant cables, what connection do you have on your mac? the new ones or the older ones?

Just means that it'll convert the ripped file into another file type, and adjust various factors like output resolution etc. in the process. In this context, at least.

im trying to partition my hard disk to install windows and i get this message



does that mean i have to wipe my hard drive clean then back it up from time machine?

Leave boot camp out of it and try Disk Utility directly.

my macbook pro just died

when i turn it on it shows the apple logo but doesnt load the desktop. the screen just goes blank.

ive taken it to an apple dealer and they have tried various things but say its dead,but they need to speak to apple to see if they can do anything about it as its out of warranty but there was a faulty batch of mac book pro's a while back.
