I remember that disaster, it was in the spring of 2000. I was an exchange student on Iceland and was watching the Melodi Grand Prix (Eurosong) together with a group of students from here and there in Europe. When the Netherlands was going to call in their votes the girl from the Duth broadcasting company appeared on screen and said that because of a terrible accident the Dutch vote was cancelled. Three of my friends were (are) Dutch and they were quite shocked and had to call home immediately! Then they got the explanation from their families. Some days later they told me that no close relatives or friends of them died.
