Hullo, I'm a newbie to this forum and have been reading up a madly about all your k750 stories. One thing that I haven't seem to have found so far is the speed at which the camera operates.
I am an SE fan and own a Z500 (hey, it came almost free iwth Rogers!), and my friend owns a k700. There's a slight half a second delay with each of our VGA cameras. The camera app also takes about a second to load up.
So with the k750, how long does it take upon opening the camera slider for app to load up, and then autofocus to lock on in normal lighting (say outdoors or brightly lit room), and then for pic to take?
I heard that the k750 has a cache of about 2 MB, allowing the picture you just took to be saved in the background while you're free to take more and smile and eat candy. Is this true?
I hope this question hasn't been a constant one...just that I've had all-in-one cams before, and bloody hell do they take a while to save a pic! You're stuck with an itchy trigger finger and missing all the great pic opps!

It does take a couple of seconds making the shot ready, and then a couple of seconds to save it before you are ready for next shot.
It doesnt save in the background when taking single shots, only in burstmode.

if u have used k700i, then i can tell u u wont find much of a difference between the two, like there was a hell lot of difference between T630 and K700i but this is not the case with K750i. Its cam is damn good and screen is better than k700i in terms of colors that it can display otherwise its just like k700i. i wont recommend it to a person who is already using k700i!

Hrmm...ok, thanks numb. I'm pretty sure I'm still buying the phone, but that's a bummer. I hope it's still a decently fast cam though.

I know the k750 isn't a professional fast digicam, and I don't expect it to be one, but do all of you guys who've had one for a while find it's fast enough to just quickly whip out and take a shot or two...or does the loading and saving get in your way?
I've used the k700 a bit and if it's nearly as fast that'd seem pretty usable for general stuff. Otherwise I'd just lug around me digicam.

I think it's fast enough to whip it out and take a picture quickly. I factor in a delay of about 10 - 15 seconds, so while I know I won't be able to get a picture of a bird that just flew past me. I have managed to fish the phone out of my pocket, slide the cover, focus, and then take a picture of things such as a parrot hopping around on the ground.
How do I minimise the file transfer progress bar? I've read that somewhere here but I can't find it via search.

That sounds very sweet. I am vrey much sold on the k750.
I hope the save time of photos will be better than the Sharp 902's supposed 3-4 second save time. |

@ Ragart - taking a picture on the K750i can be as fast or slow as you want it to be.
If you want to take a simple VGA size picture, you can do that pretty quick and the picture will save almost instantly. You'd do this when taking simple everyday fun snaps.
If you want to take a proper full quality 2mp size picture, it takes a few seconds to setup the camera (select white balance, aim, hold steady, use focus if needed and press shoot). It'll take about 2 seconds to save if your phone has the latest firmware.
I find that taking a high quality shot takes no time at all, i simply slide the cover open, aim and focus and hit the shutter key. Once saved, i close the lense cover again and slide the phone back in my pocket. You can take pictures whilst the keypad is locked by opening and closing the cover.

ooo! That sounds awesome! Ah man, I really can't wait. Combining bday funds and me own cash to get this phone. I've heard all about the UI increased speed and almost everything else about the phone and it sounds great.
Creak or not, *bows to k750*
Thanks a lot for the help. I like this forum a lot. It's very friendly to newbies and veterans alike.
Hrm...while i'm on the subject. Anybody ever used www.expansys.ca to buy a phone? I'm thinking of using them to deilver to Ontario. They say it'll cost about $633 CAD which is fine, but I don't know what other costs might be invisible.
It already has the 7% VAT and the UPS delivery charge in it. Since it's a .ca site, I'm assuming I don't need to pay more tax...but I don't want to get bitten in the ass by an extra $700,000 for shipping and handling or something. |
