The reason for the call and end call keys, I believe is because of this new java platform and everyone having a similar layout.

Im being a bit picky now but why as the alarm clock function made it to the Main Menu?? I can think of many (or every) other apps that should be there, applications folder maybe.

@Prom
But we still dont know whether its possible to minimise the browser or not. Agree about the calender needing an update, especially to the layout.

@max
Is there a screenshot of that app around? Dont have a recent se to test it.

I still think se should implement this themselves and take little features like this seriously, even if it is a cybershot or walkman and not a 'Document Viewer' branded phone.

I just hope SE have fixed the colour on imaging.

Also is it just me or does the browser actually now look like a browser? Decent

and we especially don't want the very user-unfriendly Yes and No keys.

I couldn't agree more! I've heard Nokia users complain about "how hard" SE is to end a call because there is no red phone icon. Or they don't know which button to press after entering a number because there is no green phone icon. I mean, how stupid can a person be? They can't seen to grasp the concept of multi-purpose keys with contextual specific uses.

Not having a fixed call/end button imho makes the UI MORE flexible, and this is what I find lacking in Nokia UI - NO flexibility.

I'll have to DISAGREE with you both on this part. As more advanced a phone or even smartphone a phone becomes the more issues with management of calls become - MS or S60. You can BOTH agree that even S60 is amongst if not THE most powerful and user friendly smartphone around. However before S60 3rd edition EVERY device released, even sub-licensed (save for the (N90) had NO Send/End keys. This became problematic and Nokia listened to their users and implemented it in FULL Effect! Gladfully so.

How many times do you launch an application (Java/J2ME/Midp) and during the loading phase & a phone call comes in? You CANNOT answer the call without a BT Headset paired & active; because those so called "multi-purpose keys" are NO longer Multi-purpose because ONLY the LEFT soft key "CANCEL" becomes active and pressing it in hopes of cancelling the java app and then to answer the call - actually multi-tasks in CANCELLING both the app & the incoming phone call. This of course also is fustrating because some apps, like "Yahoo Go!" take longer than a simple 10seconds to load - I've seen it take 26seconds to load, leaving only 4 seconds (IF your messaging center on the provider is set to 30seconds maximum) to answer a phone call.

Some may respond with just use the Activity Menu key - but you first have to navigate to "My Shortcuts" then to Main (personally I keep this at the top of the list) then select it and then jump OUT of the Main menu to accept the call. NOT very good for a Smarter-Phone to use.

Some ppl CLAIM to be longstanding Ericsson fans here, but fail to realize that the SEND/END keys where present with ALL Ericsson phones. An evolution occured and now we're seeing it here. we NOW of 3 soft keys with ALL changing accordingly, and by reading the review seems to be more efficient and effective - the center button on a Joystick or D-Pad was always hard set to select. This soft-keys ALSO seems to be VERY accurate! All reviews state this but they ONLY complain of them with the center key due to the proximity of the new O-Pad top button being pressed with big hands slipping to select the soft key above.

I welcome this change and hope that many others will prefer it - most likely in the form of the Z750i - where dedicated KEYS are used and not touch-capacitance keys are used. Give it try ppl and support SE's avante-garde in design. Give them feedback - actual user feedback of these new implementations so that the designers and engineer's can think more clearly what they design and how we use them. I have a strong feeling that both teams within SE do NOT use low mid high end phones, but more of the smartphones offered. However, in Nokia's case, it seems ALL of their top brass is using their high end smartphone = N95.

@Alexandra; don't you own the N95? You're telling me that you don't appreciate using an S60 or Java App on it and simply press the END key to route you BACK to the today/home screen ?? I want THIS in my K790a & following upgrades.

p.s. > SE PLEASE give us UIQ3.1 non-touchscreen in a K850i like phone .... PLEASE! I swear if I could code & reverse engineer I'd PUT the UIQ3.1 within the K850i and make it available with a full way of getting back to factor level platform.

i asked the shop yesterday, he looked inside some papers, and said 2-3 weeks.

Isn't that the standard response by salesmen when they don't have any idea?

Isn't £359.03 more than your expectations, even in the begining?

even if thats correct and the launch price is 360gbp, thats about the average launch price for many flagship phones, g600, z8 etc (yes i know some may not think k850 is at all a flagship device specs wise) we all know how prices work. They may start a little high, but give it a couple weeks, some times even just a few days, and you will see big drops in price.

Thats true, you've made me think twice about taking out a contract now. I'll have to check what the total price of the contract is.
