Agree on that. So far the new ( unofficial) fw did nothing regarding memory leak problem which is not good to be officially release IMO. We can see some more RAM, much faster UI and other improvements which are good but I would rather wait a bit longer (7 January) if they will manage to reduce memory leak. |

On the other hand, if they fix everything you mentioned except the leaks and release it soon, they can focus on the leaks in a later release. 
Since it leaks quite much, I guess there are a lot of different apps eating up the RAM...

I said don't mind to wait mentioned 7.January if we can get full package:) If fixing memory leak demands much more time than that, off course they should give us existing improvements first. and then try to solve that problem. Anyway we shall see very soon. |

the p990i is a mess IMO... i just picked one up and find the UI implementation.. i thought it would be much better then the UI in the m699i and w950i but seems to be a step backwards.. for example the standby screen is absolutely useless... what's the point in hiding the today screen? i can't access my message folders with 1 click... of course this is first glance.. but so far not impressed at all.. i don't think firmware will save it either...
the only thing i like so far.. camera is lots of fun cause of the screen and the keyboard is very nice to use

that is probably everyones impression when you switch to a a new system. you expect the same as in previous. remember this is a new system. you are just reluctant to the new changes. play with it bit more, b4 you make any other comments.

i've used them all... and don't see the value in the main standby screen.. it has offers no custimization... vs the m600i and w950i which allow you to change to your hoices.. not drill down into a slow menu that build shortcuts..
i don't need a call log and phone icons... it's redundant...

Thats one of the main problems with P990 UI in FO mode as far as Im concerned. The Standby is absolutely useless when it has SO much potential with the massive touchscreen and and full keyboard. This isn't a bug so its unlikely they'll fix its uselessness. |

agreed... they won't fix it the morons... you know what's really silly about the p990i UI.. you can change the time like in 20 different ways... (btw still missing a lot of cities... like Toronto, montreal and a few more.. it was in the p800-910 series.. grrrr) but yet can't change the standby icons...
going see if there's any 3rd party apps that can save this thing
they also need to assign more consistency in the key mappings.. someitmes the up down left right keys do stuff and sometimes thay don't.... grrrrrrrrrr

Putting it in Silent mode is also suprisingly difficult. On the k800, you could do it without looking. |

I can do the same thing on my P990i. I just hold down the hash-key on the flip!
You removed your flip, didn't you? Then you're missing the same keypad that you have on your K800i.

exactly... without profiles... and without the flip... grrrr... so frustating..
when the flip is removed.. it should have the music note in the corner like in silent and you can toggle there.. OR assign more multiple fucntions to the keyboard.. since 95% of the keys don't have a command in the standby screen...lol you can't even dial ...

actually i discoverd it yesterday, you could dial. just hold the space key for 1-2 sec. you will be able to dial then. |

The biggest problem IMO is that the best we can do is speculate. I know that it doesn't make any sense for SE to admit to any of the P990's shortcomings but I'd like to at least know what exactly they're working on, and when we can expect it. An official statement from time to time would be nice. |

Anybody else notice how people rant the P990i cant do something then somebody tells them how to do it? maybe if people read the manual once or twice they may not be so angry?
It's only a phone chaps so yes show your displeasure at it's failings but growe up and stop throwing a tantrum because it fails to do something exactly as you expect but does the function a slightly different way. |
