@ Menageryl -- Great post! I was even starting to doubt the P990 since it has been so long since it was announced. I was worried that something special with a better camera, EDGE, stereo speakers, and nice and thin might come along and make me regret getting the P990. But you have brought back my spirit! I know that a P-Series phone is the only one for me. I just hope it will be a while before the P1000 or whatever comes out so that I can have time to enjoy it. Can't wait!
And thank you to masseur and Jah for answering a question of mine a couple pages back.
And finally, once again, I must ask if any place has started selling screen protectors for the P990 yet or if there is another phone with a compatible screen size. I asked this a couple times now, but I guess no one knew, so maybe someone could help now. I checked Boxwave, SymMobile, Martin Fields, and Brando. Is there anyone else? If the phone is coming out soon (June hopefully), then I will have to protect it. If it got scratched after this incredibly long wait, I would just lose it!  |

Overall it looks like we are gonna have to wait a little longer than expected. As long as we get a working product at the end of the day thats all that really matters.
At least a confirmation from  would help!

I have been watching this thread for an absolute eternity. I work at T-Mobile headquarters in hertfordshire. And I can safely say IT WON'T BE OUT ON T-MOBILE TILL SEPTEMBER, possibly later.
No speculation, no rubbish. 100% true.
As for other networks, August is looking more likely than june. I defy anybody to prove me wrong (acceptable proof would be a Sony Ericsson head office memo).
Sorry to blow your hopes away... But SE R&D are to blame for the delays...

You right, other networks should be in the same boat, more or less
But...the unlocked version should come much before that, and that´s what i want, like many others

thank you for the update - its good when we get members on the inside of the industry giving us proper information. Well I am with T-mobile and decided that I would buy the P990 SIm free and therefore went for the £12 per month discount as my upgrade on Flext+Web'n'walk (great tariff).

I for one won't buy a branded phone again... I hated being at t-mobile's mercy when it came to firmware upgrades with my k700. I wouldn't risk being stuck with a buggy first firmware, thats for sure :)

Thanks for not lynching me... I expected to be burnt at the stake for saying the phone is going to be released passed the expected date.
I want one so badly... I might have to go down the sim-free route too. Unfortunately, we don't get access to that kind of information. So I will keep my ears to the ground and come back to update if I hear anything.
As for network locked phones... My p910 is orange branded and unlocked, what a pile of crap... the last two updates have made it a solid phone though. Thank god for the p910! |

The final SDK of UIQ 3.0 has been launched on 2006-05-11, only 2 weeks ago !!

Anyone who still believes that SE will flash the new UIQ on all the phones, pack the boxes and distribute them all over the Europe in 2 weeks is a fool!
I would expect at least one more month for the new phones to hit to the market.

It's the most hard working, reliable & usefull phone+PDA I ever imagined having. It still surpasses all my expectations!
