i hope they ditch windows mobile instead.. the vivaz has sold pretty good too, probably better than any wm phones they hav had out there... so i doubt they would drop symbian..plus wm7 has more services running which are against sony, such as xbox live, etc..

Well I think the time for SE to stop hedging it's bets has come and gone. Android's market share has gone from less than two percent to over nine in a year and it's safe to say Android will be well represented in future SE devices.

I've no idea which they will drop. The Symbian OS tends to be the achilles heel in many a review I've seen on the Vivaz. It rarely gets an allround thumbs-up because of it.

Plus WP7 seems to be really hot even if it will have some limitations in the beginning...
And will bring super power devices soon, which Symbian will not, or will much later...

If SE are thinking about the future they should stop building on the backhanded Symbian. Leave it with its problems to Nokia where it belongs.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, SYMBIAN'S GOT TO GO!

It is being relegated to mid-end by Nokia and Samsung is busy with its Bada OS and not so keen on 'Nokia's OS'

SE is going high-end and it would not make sense to compete with the likes of Nokia using the same OS on high-end phones while Nokia is using it on low to mid-end phones. The one thing that would sway SE is Symbian's market, it is falling but still lucrative for them. Windows, on the other hand, is expensive for them to use.

I would rather they go with Windows as it is in line with their ambitions of being mainly a high-end manufacturer and the OS has potential to be very competitive.

It's not what you do or even how you do it but in what state of mind you do it: Dups! 2009

I agree. Symbian seems to have plenty catching up to do. HTC's WM devices and Nokia's are in leagues of their own right now.

I'd still like to see a killer full touch Walkman, I can't help thinking that such a phone is missing from the portfolio.

I do not think that keeping Symbian is a bad choice, at least for now. SE has to wait until the end of 2011 before deciding which of the platform to let go. As I have said on my previous posts, MeeGo is something to look forward to. Its cross platform compatibility with Symbian makes it tempting to develop applications for. But I definitely agree that the focus should be on Android phones.

Please SE, just one more high-end Android phone this year and SE fans will surely be happy (a phone with features set similar to one that I had posted.

This is also what I want. But is not realizing this phone's need as of the moment.

^It's actually not a good idea. Current Android phones in the market and IPhone 4 do not only serve as great music players, but also good pocket cameras and portable video players. Music-centric phone is just not enough. It has to be a phone with almost every feature that it can have plus a feature that set it apart from the competition.

Yes, and that feature for me is clear: Camera with cover and better specs or at least results than Satio! Also C905 or C902 have no real successors, right?
But what OS is really suited for a really good Smartphone/Entertainment/Camera phone combination? Android has problems with video calling implementation obviously and the new Symbian is not hip or spread enough for most people. The new Windows with its limitations is probably out of the question. Difficult decision for SE or any other manufacturer who wants to make such a phone soon.

It's actually just opposite. New WindowsPhone 7 will be great for entertainment.

defo drop windows. I read this morning that at a windows 7 presentation, a few dev's were very unhappy with it. I'll try and post link later in the correct thread. Regardless, se should leave symbian alone and focus on their own problems. I like s60 5th, despite its clunkiness. I have a galaxy S and although i love it, it feels a bit bare. This will be my last android until its much more developed. Still got my trusty omnia hd. Thankgod.

But definitely WP7 is the future, while Symbian is more and more behind.

I don't get finally what platform they should use in your opinion.

Microsoft are making Bing the only available search engine on WP7 so there you go, they're not going to let you do much with the OS. There are heavy restrictions on what can be done so forget about customisations. The thing about Android is that you could hate the stock OS but you jump on the App store and get the software that you like and just use that. I really dislike the HUB thing on WP7, its really ugly and I don't think you can change it either. Some of the things you want are so deep in the menu so its literally like turning loads of pages of a book before you get there. A basic list or grid would be nice but its all very flashy now.

I'm waiting for the final build to pass a full judgement, you need to test it in normal life to really decide. Right now, iPhone and Android are miles ahead so WP7 has to be that damn good when its released. I also think you would need a business user to give it a go, it could be perfect for them since they are the target market.
