Not sure it will be huge hit..
First look Like sony ditch the headphone jack
Second the lack of marketing
Third no proper US avavility..
Along with this crazy initial pricing $100
It won't be that a huge hit but will mark sony's comeback in smartphone arena! |

Exactly. Why should it be a "big hit". It seems like Sony is bringing nothing new to the table just getting to eye level with the competition.
Dual Cameras, already there.
New 18:9 display, already there.
"Bezeless" design, already there with better bezel to display ratio.
4k Resolution, who cares? Most consumers are even fine with 1080p resolution on their devices. Beside that 4k will available only when specific content is being watched.
And considering its price point, Sony's bad marketing and limited availability in certain regions it won't be a big hit. |

We can consider XZs as X2 Performance.
XZ1 replaces XZ.
QHD is here since 2014, a phone from VIVO.
Waterproofing since 2013, with Z.
Glass body since iphone 4
Iris scanner ( 2015 Microsoft Lumia 950)
Desktop ( Lumia 950, HP Elite X3)
Virtual Assistent ( Cortana, Google and Siri)
Payment ( Apple Pay/ Google Pay)
Main stuff of S8 was around already.
Still all tech sites drool on the phone like it was something new.

The successor of xz1 should be named xz1s right?
Just like xzs after xz
How come xz2 all of a sudden
Simply to mark the birth of a new monster.

I probably missed that part where tech sites did that.....the overall package is great. Well received design with high display to body ratio and top specs. Nobody drooled like it was something new. It's the overall package which most reviewers found great. It's the flagship with the least compromises.

This is a very good read.
https://www.dxomark.com/disru[....]smartphone-cameras-next-level/
Some people ask sony to put even bigger sensor (1/2 inch sensor or even bigger) in their mobile to bring better pics but I always found those expectation laughably ridiculous. They have no idea how ugly a 1/2 inch sensor would look in modern smartphone and also what kind of compromise it would bring along with it. Instead of using one huge ass sensor you can use two smaller sensor to bring even better result.
The article shows how important the post processing has become in modern smartphone camera. Older technique is now redundant. Hardware improvement like sensor improvement has become so minuscule that you can bring significantly better pics and video even with last gen sensor with great post processing technique (Ex: iphone 5s to iphone 6). Improvement in the sensor department is great news but it would be a waste not to use newest post processing technique to complement it.

1/2" is not much different from 1/2.3".
1/2" = diagonal 8mm, area 30.73mm2.
The 1/2.3" are imx220, imx300, imx378 and imx400.
Imx220 ( z1-z4) = 7.87mm
Imx 300 ( z5) = 7.87mm
Imx378 ( pixel 1) = 7.81mm
Imx400= 7.73mm
Usually 1/2.3" has about 28mm2
1/2" is only 9% bigger.
In my if they brought dual 12MP with 1.55 micron that work together to shoot like a 24MP/1.55 micron sensor would be great.
High MP ( good if you edit) also bigger pixels ( to absorb more light).

Im Curious why gsmarena called the "xz pro" the Xperia x performance successor
"Last we’ve heard, Sony might be announcing one or two new smartphones at the MWC later this month. There are rumors of a Sony Xperia XZ2 and a possible Sony Xperia XZ Pro, a device that would succeed the Xperia X Performance. Details are still quite tight-lipped but more will become apparent once the MWC rolls around."
Link
I understand z5 premium announced September released November 2016
Xperia x performance announced February
Released June 2016
And
Xperia Xz premium announced February
Released June 2017
I'm guessing a typo... Or they're talking about the xz2

As we know there are rumours about 3 new phones
A 5 incher, the xz1 successor and the super flagship xz pro
They were referring to the 5 incher i think.
No one is certain that there will be 3 devices released |

About the Pro/Premium..
I think Mate 10 is a good example. It has a 5.9" 16:9 screen with 81.6% area.
So when bezel size is kept, screen /body % increases as we have bigger screen.
Like Galaxy A5/A7. A7 has more screen area %.
So if the Pro/Premium has 5.5 or 5.7 with about same screen/body % of Mate 10, bezels would need to be even smaller.
Mate 10 can be considered edge-to-edge , just like XA.
Just my opinion, not official info.
UAPROF says H81 is 4K and H82/H83 are 1080p.
Last year a photo showed up, like a piece of paper with specs of H82.
SD845, 5.48" FHD HDR , sRGB 148%, 4GB/64GB, 12MP + 12MP/15MP , android 8.1 .
Is there any chance that H82 and H83 are same but just different size like XA1/XA1+?

The 16mp front camera is somewhat disappointed...
